I took a chance, bought one.
Just bought a $400 Ag75 Hollowbody Ibanez Jazz Guitar this week and a $100 Mustang 1 Amp but can't play. We'll see how this holds up to the 3 lessons I've taken so far from a teacher.
bought it. can't wait to play like Eddie VanHalen.
Yes Bill, but I do not believe we will get Eddie Van Halen until we have a triumphant video.
$5 isn't taking a chance compared to spending $500 on instruments before you can play ;-)
Ribbing aside you've taken good steps if you're halfway serious about playing as there's nothing worse than learning a skill with bad tools (my 1st decent guitars & bass were Ibanez - still have them).
And no, you don't have to even try to Be Eddie V. - you only need to do something you find enjoyable - playing is great therapy for when you're feeling blue or feeling great. Rock on.

p.s. Bought two of these when a "sponsored" deals.woot end of May. Was slightly more money and they only shipped 1 of the two I paid for. I tried to contact them 3 times over the rest of the summer w/order number etc and they never replied or resolved.
Though this same merchant often has items that are tempting I wouldn't spend another penny with them given their absent sales support and apparent lack of care about making good on a deal.
Just sharing a buyer beware with my peers (and if the merchant is listening out there all you need to do is respond to your "contact us" I've just filled out! Yet AGAIN!!!! 4th try!!!!!!)
Anybody that has tried these DVDs have an opinion on whether they're good enough to actually learn how to play from? Thx in advance...

Well at least with Costco you walk out with something in return for your money rather than nothing. In other words what good is a low price if you never get the merchandise paid for?
As hinted I just filled out their "contact us" yet again and will report back if I hear anything.....but I suspect 4th try won't be any less different.
To br' - I hadn't unwrapped, the one I did get, DVD case as my purchases sre suppose to be xmas gifts for someone else (I already play). So I can't say whether they are even worth it if received.
@lucydog: Could you point us to a link on Costco's site? I can't seem to find it and would like to see a listing from a reputable company.
Well, between comments from @bubbawheat, @mudshucker and @char_vey, I'm glad I hadn't clicked the button yet!
I'd reconsider if the merchant showed up here with some sort of make-good, explanation, etc... But if this is a "set it and forget it" where they can't even be bothered to read the comments and respond... Bullet dodged!
Here is the link to the costco.com deal. These boards have gotten harsh! goingtoday must have paid to be "sponsored" here why would they do that and then not make good on a deal.

Well it looks like squeaky wheel, that never stops squeaking, gets the grease.
They just contacted me, apologized for the mixup, and asked what they could do to make it right. Ah......nice - 4th time was the charm.
I still wanted the discs so I said getting the rest of what orig ordered that would be ideal for me.
So fair is fair and I thought I'd share - whether the merchandise shows up I can't know yet but I will look up this thread and post an update when it does (or doesn't).

I've ordered from these guys a couple of times before. (Once for their "random box", which contained a Mighty Bright Booklight, a plastic "whistle" tuner, and a handful of picks. The second time for some guitar strings.) I honestly have never had a problem with these guys.
Don't waste you money.......I purchased it, the first time it was up and the dvds are of super cheap quality.......the second lesson wouldn't even play.
