Wait, AAFES has a decent deal? Mother of god, brace for armageddon.

Yeah, even 15 years ago, you could get most stuff cheaper off post than you could at the exchanges.

@matt1976: I doubt that! We always saved money at the base instead of shopping in the nearest town or city. Going off the base/post wasted time and fuel too.

@thebopster: yeah, if you live on post and the nearest city is 30 miles away....the only time the px is worth a damn is when they put stuff on clearance. i'd love to shop there more but even paying tax its usually cheaper off post or on amazon.

I wonder if the code (x2021leap according to this posting) is supposed to be x2012leap... as that would be this year, and would only appear to make sense.

Its not all that bad, i got a dyson from there that was already the same price as it was on amazon and then I found a 20% off entire order coupon.

AAFES sucks. They are a monopoly and overseas it's worse. Only thing worth buying from that's govt sponsored is the Commisary, they do great things everywhere I've been.

The only thing cheaper on base is the food at the commissary. The Base Exchange is terrible, and has always had a terrible selection. The electronics are pretty much non-existant, unless (these days), you want to buy Apple. The clothing selection is terrible. I don't buy brand name. I can't wait to get back to the U.S. so I can go to Walmart again.

As far as pricing goes...yeah, the few PX/BX that I have gone to were never really less expensive than anywhere else. Hell, I went TV shopping yesterday and saw a 26 inch no-known-brand TV for $350. Even the Shopettes have alcohol cheaper.

But maybe I'm just bitter I'm stationed in North Dakota.
