Restaurant.com latest promo code "GOLD", 60% off listed prices

They're back again. Using the code "GOLD" at checkout gets you 60% off the discounted price of the certificates. Example, a $10 certificate for one of the restaurants I like to go to sells for $4. With the promo code applied it comes down to $1.60. Not a bad discount, runs now thru 11:59PM PST 08/10/2012. If you're patient you may want to hold out for one of their 80% or even 90% discounts, but these tend to show up at end of the month when many certificates are sold out.

In my area there are a lot of smaller, family run restaurants in the offerings. A nice break from the nationwide chains that frequently offer online promos and coupons.

Do be sure to pay attention to each certificate's fine print, this will differ from restaurant to restaurant and even different value certificates for the same restaurant. ($10 cert may be for lunch but a $25 cert for dinner, etc.) To date I've used a dozen or so certificates and have yet to encounter any problems.

This info provided by moondrake previously when I posted one of these, and I have heard the same elsewhere...

"A couple of other good points on these -- they never expire, and if the restaurant goes out of business or stops accepting them, they post a credit to your account. The credit is not for the amount you paid, but for the like value of the coupon. So if I paid $2 for a $25 coupon, then even when the sale is over and they are charging $10 for those $25 coupons, I can redeem my credit for another $25 coupon."

Read the fine print. A lot of these coupons have a lot of conditions (can't use it on Fridays and Saturdays, minimum purchase amount, alcohol does not count towards minimum purchase, doesn't count towards certain kinds of food, and so on). There are typically so many conditions that these "gift certificates" are pretty useless. It's more accurate to think of them as limited coupons that you pay for.
