but that isn't my local troop......why would I want to support your troop, just sayin'

As an Eagle Scout from Michigan, I have to say one thing that is very flawed with out fund-raising is the popcorn. I understand that a lot of it goes back to our troops, and we appreciate it more then we can say, but the idea, especially in the tough times, of selling popcorn, something you can get pounds of for $6.95, for $41.95 is slightly ridiculous. Perhaps we should rethink that model.

Also, it's a good idea to post on here to sell your corn if you are a rural scout. But, I'd always support the local troops first.

well after years of bad sales i figured I'd turn here, honestly i wouldn't have posted it if my troop really didnt need the money. Anyway, its good quality popcorn

When the Boy Scouts allow athiest members & gay scout leaders, I'll be happy to purchase your fundraising popcorn.
In the meantime, discrimination stops the sale.

@redturtlehood - That was exactly what I was going to say.

my troop contains about 7 gay and 2 religious members out of 250 scouts. you could say that we are progressive

After watching the Pen and Teller bit on the boy scouts, you can piss off.

vote-for0vote-against

while i lone penn and teller, the episode was a bit false. from a boy scouts perspective, there isnt really any discrimination anymore. If anything, gay scouts are more accepted now than ever.

Yes, gay scouts, but gay scout leaders are forbidden.
Most molestations are committed by heterosexual men, so there is no reason for that discriminatory practice.

I think you guys missed the point of the episode. The discrimination is not the problem. there could be a hundred groups called the "i hate gay people scouts" and that would be totally fine, provided they were an entirely private organization. i might not like it, but its totally their right to do so.

The issue arises when they receive public tax dollars, get free rent in publicly owned office space, or get the use of public fair grounds and parks for free when anyone else would be charged. so in a way, i have already donated to the boy scouts, we all have. whether we like it or not.

and haven't we all contributed to the military somehow despite even worse issues?
