I love this remote.
I actually like it more than the Harmony One. The buttons actually seem to work better for me than the touch screen of the One since its easier to click them with out looking down at the remote. If you dont need the RF features of the One, this is a great alternative.
Does anyone know if there is a list of supported devices online somewhere? I've got an old-ish Sony DAV-FC7 surround sound system that I really like and works great, but it supposedly does not play nicely with other remotes. I've read online that the remote control is some proprietary format, but those weren't exactly reliable sources stating that.
It is now definitely time to upgrade my aging Logitech 550. Sweet Deal!
Here is link to see if your device is compatible from the logitech website.
@qporscheq: I didn't think the Harmony One had RF?
@elwrayswrecker: i have the Harmony 650, and just added the Sony DAV-FC7 to my device lineup as a test. it would work for you as well.
Does it play well with Tivo? I like the Tivo remote, but can't get it to control the power or input on my receiver.
This is generally a great remote. It fits perfect in my hand, the buttons feel great and aren't stiff, but aren't loose or squishy either. I think it has a motion sensor/accelerometer as it lights up when you pick it up, without touching any buttons.
The only drawback I've noticed with the one I bought for my mom (I have an older 659 that still works great) is that it is prone to requiring you to go back through the initial tutorial when dropped. There must be some flaw in the battery compartment or circuitry that causes a disconnect or a short when dropped. I've read that this is a fairly common issue with this particular model.
@tdubya79: That site doesn't seem to work for me in IE or Chrome.
@bsmith1: I'm using firefox...that's odd that it doesn't work...
@tdubya79: No dice in Firefox either... Do you have to be logged into their website or something? The page loads and has a 'next' button, but I can't enter any model #'s anywhere, so the button doesn't do anything.
@bsmith; i am not logged onto the site, but try this link instead...and select which harmony remote you have from the list:
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support-downloads/downloads/universal-remotes
Will this control the Comcast digital adapter (not cable box)? I've been looking for a universal remote, but that seems to be the sticking point.
@tdubya79: Thanks. That led me here: http://www.logitech.com/harmony/components
And then I was able to check my components for compatibility.
Thanks for the info - I think I'm going to grab one since it appears it should be compatible! That will be so nice not to have 3 separate remotes!
I feel like I'm joning everyone else in the future now ...
Kind of lame the sale site lists retail price at $200 when its $70 on Logitech site.
Anyone have any experience as to when this company usually ships vs when you order?
I was thinking the same thing. Their email said they'd ship within 3-5 days, and it has been ten... I'm starting to worry. Is this a bogus site?
I've purchased stuff from them many times and never had a problem, though on occasion they take longer than usual to ship. On the other hand, they can be amazingly fast as well (the Nook Color I got from them arrived less than 24 hours after I clicked the buy button).
I did get a shipping notification from them with a tracking number. Unfortunately it looks like these are being sent out via Mail Innovations (essentially the UPS version of SmartPost) so it may take some extra time, but it is on its way at least!
According to my tracking number, the package is currently located about 15 miles from my house and should be arriving in another 5 days...
I just got mine... its missing the top left menu key (the one needed to select "english" when first turning it on. I have read a slew of bad reviews about this company (1saleaday.com) and can officially add to them. I'd send it back, if I had any fait it would be fixed properly. Who sells a broken item? A garbage company, thats who.
Got mine as well, but everything is working properly. Took a bit to get it set up the way I wanted it, but now that it's rolling it seems pretty nice.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it sends the power-on signals to each device consecutively instead of simultaneously (not even sure if any remotes do it simultaneously) which isn't a problem for me, since I have the patience of someone over the age of 6, which is more than I can say for the others in my household. Leaving the remote pointed at the system for a full one-two seconds until everything powers on is not a big deal.
@movet22 good luck. It's possible that 1saleaday didn't know it was broken - they probably got a bunch of them and I can't imagine they'd open every single box to check. When you're dealing with them regarding the return remember: you catch more bees with honey than with vinegar ;) You can call the CC company or PayPal to file a dispute, but give the retailer a chance to fix it first.
