I have one of these, and it does work as advertised. Best for very low signal or deadspots, however, as 2 bars of the orginating signal will be better than 4 bars from this one. Note that a new SSID will be created (i.e. 'myNetwork' becomes 'myNetwork_EXT') on this device, but that's easy enough to remember.
I used it on an outlet opposite my deck so I could reliably access the internet from outside my house. Happy with it and would purchase again.
Amazon also has refurbs and sellers of this unit; you may be able to match or beat the price (when shipping is factored in).
This has a lot of 1 star reviews on Amazon. I considered getting it but that changed my mind.
