I wonder how much shipping on this think would be lol.

vote-for11vote-against

The most underrated sport in the Olympics....and the only one where you can drink while participating!!!!!

vote-for4vote-against

No sticker? Forget it. And I was gonna be in for a complete set to go with my curling rink. Guess I'll keep looking....

vote-for13vote-against

There's only six available in the whole world for a reason...no one cares.

vote-for6vote-against

Shipping is 19.48 for UPS ground. A freakin' bargain.

vote-for3vote-against

@timtheoya: I'd have to agree shipping is a pretty good price.

vote-for2vote-against

I would be in if I could have purchased 8 enough for an entire end.... 6 just doesn't do me any good.

vote-for3vote-against

@hobbit: Really? Underrated? So why do we only hear about curling once every 4 years then? Because it's not really a sport, nor something to be proud of to participate in.

vote-for1vote-against

Is it me, or does this look like an overgrown coffee kettle no anyone else?

vote-for6vote-against

@rdldr1: Not sure where you live, but when I lived in WA STate we heard about it all the time. When I went to college just south of the Canadian border they even had a Curling club at my university that competed with the University of British Columbia and other schools up there, but that was pre 2001. I am not saying I participated, I was typically busy watching Rugby and Soccer matches on both sides of the border.

vote-for1vote-against

What proof is there that these were actually used at the Olympics? They don't remove Olympic logos from hats, shirts, jackets, etc after the Olympics are over. :-)

vote-for7vote-against

I'm selling stones (that might have been) used by cavemen to kill lizards. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of actual history. All lizard blood and flesh has been removed from the stones by millenia of rain. ;)

vote-for15vote-against

According to the description: "Serial numbers are engraved on the stone..."

A quick search on the tubes will show there is only one supplier of Olympic curling stones in the world. Man, everyone has to be negative.

vote-for1vote-against

Curling is not a sport period! There is no skill involved other than maybe for the sweepers. Whom are not even really involved in the "sport", which means it is not a sport.

vote-for2vote-against

Its not a sport if you can get a hummer while doing it.

vote-for3vote-against

This is an awesome deal. Who care's if you personally don't like the sport? A great deal of people do and it would be pretty cool to own a part of the olympics.

Thanks for posting this deal even if it is WAY outside my price range.

Shipping is free*

*Only during the winter months, if you live within 7 straight miles of our factory. We'll call you with the exact time you'll need to be standing in the street.

vote-for2vote-against

I know it was 8 years ago, but this stone looks nothing like the ones they are using this year. I happen to be watching the women playing right now

vote-for4vote-against

Y'all need to lighten up a little bit! Curling is as much a skill/sport as bowling, shuffleboard, even pool to some extent. It takes a good eye and hand to bank shots, aim and hit a target, and especially to get those stones to stop where you want them to. It was pretty exciting watching the women's match between USA/GBR, and if I knew more about the rules and strategy, there was probably even more to enjoy.

Price does seem very high though.

vote-for2vote-against

I would buy this right now if it came with the womens curling team from Russia--so fly!

@zollars23: don't worry about the negative nancys friend, they're what makes woot fun!

vote-for1vote-against

If there are only six available, why can I put 10 in my cart?

vote-for1vote-against

Why is there only 6? Like there was only one curling rink used in 2002? Lol.

vote-for2vote-against

I checked and they do have complete sets. Anyone want to start a team and chip in?

vote-for2vote-against

@rdldr1: The words of a true couch potato!

vote-for1vote-against

This would have been perfectly placed had the moron who started the sale not said "Only 6 available in the whole world." That's an outright lie, and as a result, I don't trust this guy.

vote-for1vote-against

Wow, pretty expensive paper weight/conversation piece. I guess, if these get bought up, it'll probably be by professional curlers, because nobody else would care enough to shell out that much money for one.

vote-for4vote-against

@smainzer: haha yes, finally! a REAL lizard-killing caveman stone?? count me in! that'll go perfect on my "piece of history" display shelf, right between my exclusive Obama Commemorative Coin and my Official 2002 Olympic Curling Stone.

vote-for0vote-against

I always pictured curling as a poor man's sport, needing a brush and a kettle. Guess I was wrong.

vote-for1vote-against

Only 6 available, but lets you order more than that... hmm, skeptical.

Hey this guy doesn't go out and call you a loser when you are talking about World of Warcraft. Curling has quite a following and it's growing. I have never played but there is even a club here in Texas.

I am sure when video games make the olympics someone will be selling a mouse that was used in the actual games and THEN you would be all over it.

vote-for3vote-against

Man that would be a heck of an industrial strength paper weight -- it might do the job here in Okla. where Tornadoes roam -- but alas --- it's too steep for me -- if I bought it it would end up on the shelf next to the curling iron I used to use when I had hair -- aw heck fire -- put me in for a gross --they'll make great Christmas gifts for my wind blown Okie friends

vote-for2vote-against

The Wii's "Winter Olympic games" has curling so there's hope for the sport yet; but, without the official Olympic sticker it's "worthless" or at least worth about 1/3 of the price as advertised. And, advertising to millions via w00t but he only has six? Hmmm...

vote-for2vote-against

If it's an Ailsite stone (the best). Which I'm sure it is because it was used in the Olympics. Then anybody who curls should buy this and USE it.
It's not a collectors item.

A brand new Ailsite stone goes for $1,500 USD, and usually there's a waiting list.

vote-for1vote-against

Only 6? I put 10 in the quantity box, and it still went to the next screen.

vote-for2vote-against

@davradlasd: I'll pony up the extra $225, because yes... I do need mine tomorrow before 8 a.m. :D

vote-for1vote-against

Instead of shipping, maybe they could just slide it to NJ for me. If it hit Philly that would be close enough. ;-)

vote-for2vote-against

@wegogiant: Well, as the "moron" who placed the link, I just copied and pasted what was in the description on the website. I don't own the site, or have anything to do with it or curling for that matter. I just found this and thought it was funky. It's kind of what Deals.Woot is all about.

vote-for0vote-against

Really? Is this site becoming another eBay? Looking for deals, I am, Not a chance to buy a "one of a kind"

vote-for1vote-against

@rdldr1: I think you're just mad that Nascar isn't in the Olympics. Poor guy...

vote-for1vote-against

@kmf600: the handles are metal to know when the person throwing has let go. some kind of sensor inside to make sure they don't touch it after that first line.

vote-for1vote-against

@secrtsquad: I'm the guy who is selling these, there were 6 available, now there are four available. I don't know why it says you can order 10, but the truth is that I have four left and they were used in the 2002 Olympics.

vote-for2vote-against

@wegogiant: hello wegogiant - I'm not a moron and I am selling these stones. Originally we had 8, down to 6 when I listed them online and now we're down to 4. The handles are slightly different than the ones they use now due to the sensors in the handle which hadn't been invented yet in 2002. It's a cool item if you like curling and the Olympics, if you don't like either then there's no need to shop or comment on them.

vote-for1vote-against

Cool! I can use it as a spare tire on my Fred Flintstone mobile!

vote-for1vote-against

Haha..."Only SIX in the WORLD." I Put 7 in my shopping cart. Not only did I get past check out, I got all the way to putting my info in...I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very smart...but I swear, I'm almost positive 7 is more than 6...

EDIT: I just noticed that "Broom" was one of the tags haha...
