Major Appliances was a great soldier... I'll never forget when I saw him speaking at a fourth of july celebration along with Private Partts and General Malcontent a few years ago.

There are some really good deals to have there. Last time they did this, you could even stack the ones that are already on sale with the 10% off. They also removed the old crappy range and everything they replaced; the service we received were great, too.

I have no affiliation with any appliance store, but both Home Depot & Lowes are superior sources for Appliances vs. the other national players - and in my major market, also superior to the local players. The exception: if you want truly high end stuff the local stores can be better sources.

10% off sales are routine.

The big plus at both these stores? They don't gouge you on extended service plans like virtually everybody else does. Home Depot in particular has better plan pricing.

We've also found the expertise at Home Depot to be more consistently superior to that at Lowes.

The challenge for these two stores: the brands carried do not match so that might dictate where you buy.

The extended coverage plan from Lowes sucked. We bought a fridge 6 years ago at lowes, and bought the extra warranty. The first two times the ice/water dispenser completely died they sent out the repair tech who replaced the whole circuit board for the dispenser. Later, when I called about 2 months before the plan was going to expire, the compressor/motor was making some strange sounds, I got zero help. The people I spoke to at the warranty company said that as long as the fridge was still working, I would just have to live with the noise. 3 separate calls in 2 weeks about that noise resulted in ZERO help or repairs. That was the last time I have purchased an extended warranty, and the last time I ever will (other than squaretrade) for ANY purchase. When the manager at the local Lowes refused to help, I stopped shopping lowes for appliances.

By the way, 10% off is no deal. You can get a 10% off coupon for free from the post office change of address kit. You can also get a 10% military discount at just about any Lowes or Home Depot

@kamikazeken: thanks for that Lowes extended coverage feedback - we've been so happy with Home Depot we've bought our last three appliances from them. And we did get to test their extended warranty (less expensive than Lowes BTW) - it worked great!

You can combine 10% moving discount with these discounts.

@kamikazeken: You actually have to move now - they mail the discount to your new address.

@rh48: actually, you can just do a change of address for any fictitious name, with any old address, and then just enter your current address as the "new" address for that name.

or just go here http://www.lowes.com/cd_Coupon+Registration_253641591_
and set up a move. boom. 10% coupon.

@kamikazeken: ...and how would that not be outright theft? (Faking a move)
