Google is expected to announce a $99 tablet this week. Announcement was to be tomorrow but it was canceled due to the storm. Not sure if the specs will equal this version of the Fire, but you may want to wait and see.

@thericochet: I thought the $99 tablet was for next year.
The 10/29 Google announcement was for the LG Nexus 4, and the Samsung Nexus 10.

Kindle Fire is junk, I have one and the navigation is horrid. Not worth the price.

I like my fire. It's good for what it is. It's not as full featured as my wife's Ipad, but it was $500 either. I certainly think it was worth the $$ I paid for it new. I can't speak to the deal, but the Fire is a solid e-device.

Can someone explain the condition grades ? so far i've seen 5 and 6. I can't really tell which is better.
thanks.

@simonjf: From experience buying cowboom devices, you will be fine with anything 5 and above. Watch the "included" part of the listing also. You will want one with a charger.

@morriea: Good point, morriea. Things I've purchased with higher condition number has been great . . . PS3 still plugging away; items with lower (3-4) were so damaged that I had to return . . . by the way, the return process was easy.

I've gotten two tablets from Cowboom this year. The first one was in MINT condition, though on the site it was listed as a 5. The one I picked up last week was listed as a 6, and it had a few minute scratches on the sides. It stated it didn't have a charger, but indeed it had an aftermarket charger crammed under the plastic shell, so score!

What kills me is that as you scroll through each one available on the site, the first page will be full of "4" condtion items, but on page 8 you'll find some 6's... people don't go through all of the ones for sale. I'd rather pay the same for a 6 than a 4.

I don't see it in the description, but can anyone tell if these are Remanufactured?

vote-for1vote-against

@byuky: OK. These are pre-owned, which is defined as:
Pre-owned Items
Pre-owned describes products that have been purchased, opened, and operated. Then, for a multitude of reasons, from buyer’s remorse to functionality, the product is returned to the store. When a pre-owned product is processed by Cowboom, it is tested for power and basic functionality.

@autocrosser how did you get to select the grades. Can't find the link to do that. I remember browsing through it when looking at a nook.

In for one, my mother-in-law loves to read so this is a good x-mas gift for her. I've had mixed sucess with Cowboom so I will cross my fingers!

@yaky: On the Sale of the Day, the units are listed one at a time. You have to choose the grade listed or wait till it is bought and the next one is listed. To choose a grade in that manner, you need to find the item you want outside this flash sale on the site. There are many items listed. choose one, and then "all available". Look at the items individually.

What generation is this? That makes a big difference in what features are included.
