It's a good movie, as per my boys. They had the misfortune to watch it with me (I have been collecting Xmen comics forever) and said that every time they looked over at me that I was shaking my head and frowning.
There was one very cool cameo.
I understand that the list price is $40, but no one every pays that for any Blu-ray. In my opinion, a Blu-ray needs to be priced at $20 or under to be a "deal."
I suppose we'll see how the woot masses feel, however. Maybe I'm in the minority.
@theoneill555: I know what you mean. I've seen very few of the movies based on comic books from my childhood, because they always let me down in some way. If I can just enjoy them for the tremendous special effects that would be okay, I guess, but I can't seem to do that. I always go back to what I pictured in my minds eye and go away feeling let down.
@proxgotsthafia: I understand and I'm with you, but you and I both know plenty of people that just have to have it, as soon as they can get it.
This was the best deal I could find at this point and the good thing about Amazon is that if the price drops between the time of your order and the time they ship, they will refund you the difference. I've only pre-ordered a hand-full of times, but they've done that for me a couple of times.
@proxgotsthafia: Don't forget that when the price drops Amazon will match as they have the pre-order price match guarantee thingy.
@proxgotsthafia: I agree. This doesn't seem like a great deal to me.
@proxgotsthafia: I agree with you 115%. If a Blu ray for a single movie costs more than 19.99, it is in no way remotely a deal.
not only is $28 for a single blu ray not close to a deal, its not even out yet. how is this on here?
@loubriccant: OUCH! I don't think I like this, Yogi!
@mfladd: This is exactly why I posted this when I did. I figured this would happen.
@loubriccant: agreed. i grew up as an x-men fan but the movies are such a disappointment. i haven't seen first class, but i did hear it was good, so i will give it a fair shot. but lately, i've noticed my favorite "comic" type movies are the fun ones (scott pilgram, kick ass, green hornet) that type of stuff.
Target and Walmart both usually offer new release Blu-Ray movies for less than $20 for the first week they are out.
It was a good movie (I only have a passing familiarity with the comics, though).
Just think of the story as perhaps not taking place on Earth-616 ;-)
