I have never worn actual Doc Martens but ive bought three pairs.Be careful, the knock offs fall apart in a few months.
I used to own a pair that a friend brought over for me from London years ago. I wore them daily and they were still in good shape when I outgrew them. Unfortunately they are no longer made in England so I can't speak for their quality now.
Save your money and get a pair that's actually made in England. I've had both the Chinese ones and the English ones and guess which ones are still nice and wearable after a few months.
Its not class or ideology

Or the percentage of people that know how to use Google. . .
@jaywarrietto: Do you mean to buy used? As far as I can see, all of their manufacturing is now overseas...
@jaywarrietto: I worked for Dr Marten and can tell you that most Dr Martens are currently produced in China. Only 1 line is made in England and these products make up a very small percentage of the Docs in the market. The quality of the Chinese product is very high.
I'm wearing a pair of Docs from China and they've lasted me just as long as the old timey ones that I used to wear. Quality is as good as the old ones and I also get compliments on them wherever I go.
ive had several pair over my years. original boots, steel toe boots and 3 pair of the shoes. i was a firm supporter for many years. when i tried another shoe though my feet thanked me and ive never gone back to them...i still have them though haha.
I had bought a pair of Made In England docs, wore them out, bought the identical pair again, wore them out and then bought a third pair. These were made in China. They were terrible, returned them and took my money elsewhere.
If your feet roll in or out in any significant way, these are not the shoes for you. I learned that the hard way. My feet roll out pretty badly and after a few months of regular wear, it became too painful to wear them anymore.
@teevoo: If you pay through the sphincter you can get UK-made Docs from the website. Better to just keep your eyes peeled at thrift stores, and be prepared to replace the insoles.
