I love amazon and woot. yay!

vote-for1vote-against

ugh I hate it when I get the "Sold Out" image.

Holy cow! I just realized something. I know why Amazon bought Woot.com! Amazon must have a ton of crap to get rid of in there inventory.... More BOC for everyone!!!....

Pretty impressive that you can ship a whole office for only 5 bucks.

I do realize they've sold them before, but in light of this news yesterday, I was a little less than pleased to see them selling Kindles today.

I'm thinking the product selection should improve. I'm HOPING the product selection improves! It BETTER improve! And where the hell is my knock knock, banana, banana, banana, orange shirt???

Hunh, it's funny though, I never looked into it but I always thought Woot had some association with Buy.com since a lot of items I'd see on Woot I'd see in a Buy.com "Deals" email later in the week.

Dang, I wish I could've gotten in on this deal. Made me laugh out loud.

Wootazon. Hmm, has a nice ring to it.

Not.

@reawen -
They are selling them $40 cheaper than the next closest price (duh) and its clearly a one day "welcome to the family" type thing.

Why does it bother you (not trolling, genuinely interested)?

vote-for1vote-against

I was kind of hoping for Amazwoot.woot.com An online mall where they sell one cheap book a day.

Not feeling it, woot. I worked for a family-owned chain that was bought by a bigger fish and everything went downhill despite all the "potential plus sides" they said there were...

@coryg05: Don't laugh, they might just go and do that.

vote-for1vote-against

@riocobra: Not necessarily- When eBay bought Kruse auctions (a big collector automobile auction company)the Kruse family was able to buy it back a short time later for pennies on the dollar..... in typical eBay fashion of like it, buy it, fail to understand or implement it, and sell it.

Amazon, on the other hand, has a much better grasp of integrating their sub brands- Woot will change, but only time will tell if it was for the better.

Actually, is it just me?... or has www.woot.com not had much of anything good this entire year?? My first stop is straightup woot.com, but for a long time now it's just a super quick pitstop on my way to Deals.woot

@mcgs999: Because Amazon buying woot makes me nervous for woot as we know it. Often when these smaller stores/products that have a distinct culture and following are taken over by the bigwigs, things may stay the same for awhile, but then the new owners start making changes. And often they change the culture of the place. It may not happen, but I'd hate to see woot get messed up. So basically, I'm hoping Amazon doesn't come in and muck the place up. Given that, it was disturbing that the very first thing sold after the deal was announced was a distinctly Amazon product. If Amazon and woot can effectively integrate backend supply chains, etc. to create efficiencies that allow both businesses to run better and more profitably, more power to them. I like both companies. But I don't particularly want to see them change each other, as they currently have their own distinct cultures.

If I were 50 years younger I would love to work for this company. :-)

Oh man. I wanted to get in on this one, but by the time I went to put in my order, they were already sold out!

Rats!
