Wouldn't touch a BenQ projector with a 10 foot pole. Unless I was going to be using the pole to smashing the projector like a Piñata. Bought several where I work and they all have issues. True the model number we bought was different than the one Woot is selling. After all the calls and emails not returned from the BenQ service department I wouldn't ever purchase anything from them again. Maybe you'll get lucky and these will all be fine. As long as you don't have any reason to call the service department you should be fine.

Well now... Wifey always HAS had a bit of a star-trek fetish, as does her hot little friend down the road...

You've given me a GREAT idea, Woot!

This is an awesome projector. That is the best contrast you can get on a 720p projector. 3d vision ready. Cant wait till it comes =D. Benq has never been a problem for me. only had one projector from them but it ran fine for 3 years before I sold it for a newer panasonic

My two cents--this is decent. On a clear surface, it's not the best (though the contrast comment is spot on, FOR THE PRICE RANGE). However, on a non-screen surface, like the white painted side of a building, this is pretty great. We used one to show a movie on the side of our office building (white painted cinder wall) and it looked pretty great with a little bit of angle/focus tweaking...

I bought a BenQ a few years ago, the deal came with a free extra bulb. A year after, when i needed to replace the bulb, my free bulb did not fit. BenQ service would not exchange the free bulb for the correct one. Worst company I have ever delt with. Never Again!!

From the thumbnail, I thought that sellout was selling a putter with a video cam sweet spot, so that you could watch the golf ball after the putt ... sigh. That woulda been cool ...

I bought one a month ago price was $550 then. I've got no complaints - replaced my old Sony 1031Q. Nice and quiet in econ mode which is plenty bright on a glass bead screen. Hooked up a blueray with netlix that only goes to 720p anyway.

WARNING THIS WON"T PLAY 3D MOVIES FROM A BLU-RAY/PS3!!!!!!

This projector only supports NVIDIA 3D vision for PC titles

AFAIK, all 3D for home media (blu-ray and PS3 games) require HDMI 1.4 to transmit 3D

Although this has best contrast for a mid-range projector, it is still only a 720P projector.

@rhettrushton: dude, 1.4 has nothing to do with 3D. I have several HDMI 1.3 cables that work well for 3D. 1.4 is to extend your network through HDMI rather than having to plug in all of your devices through ethernet (just one can act as the network hub). Obviously this projector wouldn't need a network connection thus does not require 1.4.

FYI, a 1.4 cable would work just fine on this projector.

does the 3D work on this or what? I have a Sony 3D Blu-ray player and just want to see 3D. I have active shutter glasses as well. Thanks in advance, LP

It's not the cables (i understand the standard) its the 3d standard. I may have been cross-talking there.

supporting NVIDIA vs home multimedia/active shutter, vs FPR is a different issue.

PS3 for sure will not output 3D unless the firmware is upgraded to the 1.4 std.

from what I understand, this projector only supports NVIDIA 3D which is PC only.

Will this work with my Mac?

If you want 3d on this take a look at optima's 3D-XL. It converts 1.4 hdmi signals to a dlp link signal that this projector supports

Has anyone ever figured out how to watch 3D movies through these 3D Projectors? It seems like they all only support nVidia solution, and that doesn't seem to do anything other then games.

@maxsmoke777 see hargabyte's comment above. I had no idea this existed.

GREAT FIND HARGABYTE!!!! for me' i'll wait until it's built in to the projectors (and I have a dedicated theater room) to get one... Until then I'll enjoy my LG 55LW5600 that I got a screaming deal for right before the superbowl. Me and my kids love it! I highly recommend it.
