Is this just online? Or can you go instore as well?

vote-for1vote-against

Thanks, this should come in handy!

vote-for2vote-against

Just buy used games on Amazon, it winds up being much cheaper in most cases.

vote-for1vote-against

How would you use this in store? It's just a coupon code, right?

vote-for1vote-against

This can not be a in-store coupon code. All in-store coupon codes start with EBC e.g. EBC0123456

vote-for0vote-against

As an employee I can tell you for sure that it is not going on in stores. Online only.

When I put the code in, it said that it is only good until 11:59pm 7/18. It says that it doesn't work with any other offers but it worked with the free shipping code.

vote-for1vote-against

Keep in mind it picks the cheapest one so at most you are getting 33% off. Not as good of a deal as it seems when you include shipping.

vote-for1vote-against

This only works on the website.

Last time I did this deal two games didn't come with cases and all three games had scratches on them. They all play fine though, the quality of their used games isn't anywhere near as nice as other companies.

vote-for1vote-against

@drakethegreat: There is actually no way this is NOT a good deal if you don't mind used games. 33% off in this case indicates a free game. How is a free game not a good deal? Even in the description of the deal it says to use the free shipping code so shipping does not even come into play. As always with the Gamestop B2G1 offer, it is a good deal.

vote-for0vote-against

@garypaytonglove: Free shipping is only for orders over $25, in case you missed that part.

Another useful code is CAG16, which discounts an additional 16% off each used game/DVD in your cart.

Here are more codes, including those that don't work anymore (for reference):
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268365

On the last B2G1FREE I got my three for under $10 including shipping. One of them was heavily scratched and wouldn't work, but I was able to easily exchange it for another working copy at a local store since they have a 30-day warranty.
They also never check whether their games actually work, but if you have a local store you shouldn't have a problem exchanging it. Just make sure you have your invoice/receipt.

@firvagor: I left it out because based on my own personal experience the only two times I have taken advantage of this it was for PS3 games. I forget that games on other systems and the crappy PS3 & 360 games could definitely leave you with a bill under 25. Duly noted. Also the CAG16 code can't be used with the B2G1 code.

vote-for0vote-against

@garypaytonglove: When I put both in I guess I assumed they worked together because the site didn't complain. Turns out CAG16 overrides B2G1FREE, and the latter is probably the better deal.

Also, in my case the games weren't exactly crappy, just old ones I either wanted anyway or had previously considered. Plus they were already on sale from ~$8 to ~$3.50 at the time. I would've bought a fourth, but since it was still under $25 they wanted to double the shipping.

vote-for1vote-against

Most of their used prices are far higher than Wal-Marts new prices with .97 shipping. Even with the freebie, seems like a waste.

vote-for1vote-against

@garypaytonglove:

The reason it's often NOT a good deal is because Gamestop prices their games much higher than you can get them for on Amazon, Ebay, etc. If you're buying two $20 games and getting one $20 game for free (paying $40), you're better off getting all three at $10 each on Amazon/Ebay.

Basic economics...heck, more like 2nd grade math. Not that complicated.

vote-for2vote-against

@tajumper450: That's actually not true. For example right now Darksiders for PS3 (on sale right now) is 19.99 at GS, and lowest price at Amazon (used) is 17.99. For 360, Gears of War 4.99, Rainbow 6 Vegas 2.99 at GS, compared to 4.00 and 2.49 lowest at Amazon used. If you are getting one game free, it is easily a better deal at GS.

Also, at ebay and on Amazon's used area, you are buying from individuals instead of an actual retailer and so have to accept all the risk and hassle associated with that.

Shop the sales, use the coupons, and you can get some real bargains at gamestop. The best way is to go into the store if you want a case/manual in decent condition and pick out the box yourself.

Apparently if you're one of the last remaining people without a next-gen system (ie: me), they're offering Buy 1 Get 1 40% off on PS2 games today.

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/b1g140/?loc=ps2flash1

It's not quite as good a deal as if you do the B2G1, but if there's only two games you can find it's not bad.

@unexpectedwalrus: As an employee, would it be cool if me and say 80 other people called your store asking for Battletoads?
