I had a FitBit Ultra that I loved, but after about a year, I was unable to recharge it anymore. The device was a single unit that clipped onto the charger kind of like a paperclip, and I think it got too stretched out to maintain contact with the charging contacts. I gave one to my husband, but he frequently lost it because it wouldn't stay clipped on his waistband very well. The internal technology was great, but the mechanics were lousy.

This deal looks very good, but I'm hesitant just because of the bad experiences with the older model. Has anyone tried either the One or the Zip?

I have the One (after my Ultra died they were kind enough to replace it free of charge with a One), and love it to pieces!

First, the FitBit is the first pedometer to ACTUALLY work for me! That, in itself, was amazing

Tracking my sleep and giving me the ability to do Activity Trackers to see what kind of results happen when I climb the stairs from the parking deck to the office or what goes on with my lunchtime walk, or even how far a walk in the park REALLY is.

The Zip seems like a downgrade because it doesn't track all the same things as the One (like sleep) and seems bulkier, but not everyone needs that.

At first, I thought the holder for the One would be horrible, but it fits snugly in there, and I aim it inside my pocket so if it ever decides to pop out, it'll land in there hopefully. Much better design than the Ultra, and the sleep wristband is a bit better designed (although still not perfect).

All in all, it's an awesome device, and my sister loves hers, too!

@kiminy: I actually just missplaced my zip...I even put the transmitter in my laptop and walked all over the house with it...no luck. so i contacted their customer support number and they sent me a brand new one absolutely free! I later found my original zip, and it forgot how to talk to the transmitter, after a factory reset it worked fine. the zip is pretty cool, and worth the money...especially with this deal. im personally waiting for the Fitbit Flex next month.

Looks like the One is sold out. They're down to the Ultra, the Zip, and the Aria.

Selling off inventory because the Flex is coming out this Spring?

vote-for1vote-against

I just went to the site. Added an Ultra to my cart, but when I click on "see my cart and checkout", my cart is empty. Several times. Has anyone really bought from this site? Or is it a scam to get email addresses for spamming?

LOVE my fitbit so I have ordered the scale. Thanks! I do see the scale is going to have some massive add-ons later and the price will also up. No problem ordering - maybe change to a different browser? I never could get tracfone on Safari... :(

@tute: I haven't tried buying from the site, but I recommend avoiding the Ultra. It was the original product, but my husband and I had problems with both of ours. When they worked, they were great, but there were design flaws, including a bizarre use of Bluetooth. FitBit no longer even sells the Ultra, so this site may be selling overstock.

@first2summit: I don't know if the Flex will really compete with the One or the Zip as much as it will complete with Jawbone's UP, which is already available. While the idea of a wrist band is interesting, I can't stand having anything on my wrists--no watches or bracelets for me.

@kiminy: never had a problem with my Ultra...

@sterhill the scale is getting an upgrade? And I just bought one last week (I'm mad slightly after seeing this, but I can't complain too much since I got my first Fitbit cheaper than this by a lot)

@kiminy: The Ultras are refurbed. The One, the current model, is heavily discounted which is why I'm thinking they're selling the overstock for the Flex.

I had a One and LOVED it up until I lost it. I contacted customer service, and they were kind enough to send me a replacement unit, but it was a flex. The sleep tracker is my favorite function, so the flex got sold and I jumped on this for a new One. Great deal.

@sterhill: Can you tell me what the add-on features for the scale are going to be? I can't find any info on any scale upgrades

In for an Ultra. It's always a little sketchy buying a refurb AND second gen, but I have paid more for a standard pedometer or a sports watch.

@paydeals: No!!!! I hope they go on sale again. I have been carrying around a beat up Ultra for months now. The case is cracked, the screen doesn't come on anymore and the casing is starting to peel. I have been waiting for the Fitbit One to go on sale and I missed it!! DOH!

I will pickup an Ultra for now but I am really hoping you have the One on sale again soon.

Thanks!

In case you're on the fence with PayDeals, I have to chime in here to add that PayDeals has awesome customer support.

In my last order, everything went wrong that could go wrong (none of it was PayDeal's fault) - I ordered the wrong item (PayDeals fixed it), USPS screwed up delivery (PayDeals fixed it), and a few other things to boot (e-mail servers not delivering correspondence - again, not PayDeal's fault but they fixed it).

I received my order after all of these mix-ups, and cannot praise PayDeals enough for their kind attention to customer service.

@wassabi36: I'm actually less likely to buy a FitBit product now, knowing they reward that kind of behavior.

saw the deal was available for several days and when went to order today, its gone. Just saw where its sold out, darn!! Hope they redo the deal soon...

@paydeals: hope you can keep me informed on when...wanted a aria and ultra.

vote-for1vote-against

I didn't realize these were refurbs. I purchased the Aria scale, and nowhere on the product page did it say it was refurbished. I felt the "40% savings" from the retail price were misleading because refurbs are inherently cheaper than new items and that the percentage discount was off of PayDeals' regular price. https://paydeals.com/deals/fitbit-aria-wi-fi-smart-scale.html

The package I got had a torn FitBit box, the scale was not wrapped in plastic, the instruction sheet was missing, and the battery pull-tab was missing. New ones have those, which is why I think this is a refurb unit. The static-cling "Getting Started" label was still on the scale.

I can't get it connected to my wifi after a few hours of messing with. I've contacted FitBit support, but no word back yet. I'm still in the 2-day response window, so I'm not worried. Previous support experience has been good.

The same scale was 54% off a while back. https://paydeals.com/deals/fitbit-aria-wi-fi-smart-scale-1.html

Just got word from fitbit support, who said that my unit is defective and that I need to return it to the retailer. I have contacted PayDeals and await their reply.

And less than 25 minutes later I have a response from PayDeals, who is issuing a refund and sending me a return label.

Good customer service on their part.

I received my Fitbit One from PayDeals really quickly! Unfortunately, I wore it for the first time today. ran errands all over town, then got home to discover it was no longer clipped to my waistband.Guess I'll be waiting for the new Flex to release since I no longer trust the clip. :(

vote-for1vote-against

sorry to hear that - I lost an Ultra and the next one I got I put a pedometer 'leash' on it. No trouble since. A lot of people do use a pedometer leash. Amazon has a lot of different kinds, do a search there.

btw: I got the scale from PayDeals, it looks every bit brand new and it synced within just a few minutes. Now if it will just start showing less weight!!
