I have the Philips DVP5990/37 and it's a great Up-Converting DVD Player.

This model is the DVP5990/F7.
I'm not sure what the differences are.

I own this one too, I love it. Just ordered a 2nd one now.

Although the documentation does not mention this it will play videos from USB thumb drives, or USB hard drives (external power is required for 3.5" drives) via the USB port. This is handy for viewing video downloaded from the internet without having to burn a DVD. It will accept most common video formats (.mpg, .avi, .wmv, etc.) but it will only accept standard definition videos not 720p or 1080p. Also, like all other upscaling DVD players it will only upscale on the HDMI output, not on the component output.

Received ordered unit today, not new, repacked box, batteries in remote, fingerprints and tape smudge on unit. Don't really know what I bought, refurbished, repaired or returned? Listed as new. Unit was shipped USPO without any tracking information. Unit does work however but I wouldn't buy from Dillyeo again!

Oops maybe I didn't realize what "ultra certified" really meant in headline description? Anyway I feel that it was misleading.

After playing about 10 disks the unit died. It just displays "load" when disk is inserted and makes a scrapping sound. I've not had much success with refurbished electronics.

@monty8232: Same exact thing has happened to me. Any ideas why?
