In for three. Time to get my aunt and grandma into the show. And of course I needed my own copy.
@neuropsychosocial: Yes. DVD=6GB. BluRay 25 or 50GB. The HD data is much larger than the SD data, but the container is much bigger, so fewer discs.
@chronosquall14's comment about the costumes looking glorious on Blu-Ray sold me on the deal: my first Blu-Ray purchase ever!
I noticed that the DVD set is six disks and the Blu-Ray set is five. Can Blu-Rays hold more data than DVDs? If so, I didn't know that!
@wilfbrim: PBS often recuts episodes and generally loses parts of the show in order to meet time requirements. The original intended episode lengths and contents are the UK Cut, which is generally what you buy on physical disc.
@bloodypenguin: Are you a time traveller? Season 3 doesn't start until January 6, 2013. Or at least here in the U.S. I expect that the UK has already seen some or all of itl.
I really liked Season 1. Season 2 was just ok. I stopped watching quickly into Season 3, it just got too cheesy Soap Opera for me.
What are the differences between what was shown here on PBS and the UK series?
This is a fantastic deal. I got them for my birthday earlier this year at something like $25 per volume. The lush costumes and sets look glorious on Blu-Ray.
Got this at Target a couple months ago for fifteen bucks. =/
In for one, m'lady.
Just got my mom an item for Christmas then.
