Xbox 360 Hard Drive 120GB (Refurb) for $19.99
Must be a Power Up Rewards Member. Final price will be reflected at checkout once rewards membership number is entered.
FYI: Power Up Rewards membership is free.
In for 1. If only for a 120 GB SATA hard drive for 20 bucks.
In for 1 as well - the description is right. The discount doesn't show up until the very end, when you're entering your credit card number.
Is this for the slim xbox?
Looks like its for the original 360, my questions is can you become a member online ? Or only in stores ?
It appears that you have to go to the brick and mortar location to sign up for the rewards program
Is this deal also in store? Or online only?
In store and online. It can be used in a slim if you remove the drive from it's case. There are YouTube videos available that will explain the process.
@btw1217: This is correct. I did this about two weeks ago with an Xbox Elite 120gb and put it in a case that cost around 5 bucks. Worked like a champ on a new slim.
@dreamyvelvet: You can remove the hard drive from the case and slide it into the newer xbox 360. I did this after replacing my old xbox 360. No changes required, just turn on the xbox and it will recognize instantly.
fantastic deal, i'll swing over on lunch and grab a membership. Somehow between downloading 2 games onto my 20gig i've mystery-lost 10 gigs of storage space. Only one game on the HD, i tally up my stuff and it should add up to about 8 gigs, says 1.1 free.
Make sure the store clerk knows about the deal. Mine was clueless! I left work to go get it and when I got back realized he'd sold me the 20GB drive. (Since all I asked for was the "$20 360 drive") I called and he is now holding the 120GB for me to come back, get the free rewards card and swap em out, but he was unaware of the deal and we were both too distracted by WOW talk to realize. Hope that helps someone out.
chupathingie you dont start off with exactly 20gb either. just like any hdd there is space reserved for the system. I have no games on my hdd and i have 11gb left over.
Ive always wanted the 120gb but i have the halo 3 version of the 360 so the external case of the hdd will not match the console, i guessing i could just open up both cases and swap the drives.
So I have to go to the STORE to sign up first and MAYBE there will be drives left after that? I'm not too happy about this post
In for 1. Even with the overnight shipping it was only $33. It's worth $13 bucks for me not to have to go to the mall today and fight those crowds.
@bsw321: Or you could call like I did and ask them to hold one for you until you get there....
@mortar235: They said it was only valid online
@bsw321: Odd, both stores I called said they would honor the price
EDIT: Also I would point to the fine print of the offer that specifically says availability is subject to location (implying in store is available) and directs you to speak with an associate.
"Cannot be combined with any other offer. Subject to availability by location. Price subject to change without notice. See store associate for details. No dealers. Offer valid in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam only. Void where prohibited. GameStop, Inc. reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the offer for any reason without notice. Offer valid on 12/21/11 only."
I just came back from Gamestop. I was able to get the drive for $20, actually a little over $19 after tax because I still got my 10% discount as a rewards card holder.
At first the guy had no idea that the drive was $20. I told him it was online as the deal of the day and he looked it up. He saw the deal and gave it to me for that price. When going in just make sure to mention its the PowerUp Rewards daily deal. I think that should do it.
Ok, I'll give it a shot on my lunch break. Thanks for the info!
just got back myself, they were not aware of the sale in store, but after scanning the rewards card i just signed up for (phone number, email address, zip code) it automatically pulled up the price. even the employee thought it was a good deal!
For those getting this in store, did this come with the data transfer cable?
@rfx: Negative... At least not the one I got. eBay time!
It did work, the employee I talked to on the phone was mistaken, apparently. However, it wasn't free, it cost me $15 to join...
I know you "CAN" mod this to make it fit in Slim, but is that allowed? I've heard all the warnings about getting banned from Live, but never heard of anyone actually getting banned cause of a HDD. Any insight? $20 for 120 gig is much better than the $100 250 gig IMHO - especially when you are just using it to be able to play the GOTY games you THOUGHT your thumb drive would be able to handle...
@bsw321: that means he talked you into the PRO rewards membership. as stated above, you should get the free membership.

Got the free membership and two hard drives.
Just picked up an Xbox 360 kinect 4GB pack on Amazon with $100 credit (for $300) so this should help me bring that up to speed.
Got two in case I screw up installing the hard drive.
Not sure if I actually want/need this. I already have a 120 GB and a spare 20GB drive that originally came with my system. Might be worth trading in the old drive and picking this one up for like $18+/- I suppose. What do you guys think? I don't install games to my HDD and think I have like 70GB left (not counting the spare 20GB).
Just worked for me. Went into the store, signed up for the rewards card (the free one) and got my hard drive. Good deal! Now I don't have to suffer with my lousy 20GB one anymore!
@smtatertot13: Well, for starters, it was a SHE... and YES, I might have been a little distracted while she was telling me about it so I might have missed something. :) Oh well... I got the drive, I'm happy now.
@joeradose: I got my slim a few weeks ago. First thing I did was take a 20gb hard drive I had and put it in the 360. I have not been banned and my understand is that you wont be banned.
Doing this is not necessarily modding the drive. You are simply removing it from the original case and putting it in the slim. The 360 automatically recognizes the drive as a 360 drive. There is nothing else you have to do to get it to work.
The only thing I would recommend doing is getting a slim hard drive enclosure. I bought one for $7 with free shipping on ebay. This is just to make the drive fit better. If you dont have the enclosure the hard drive is loose inside the system and that made a little nervous. With the enclosure you are still not modding anything. The hard drive just snaps into it and it then looks like a hard drive that you would have bought minus the Microsoft branding.
@rfx: A data transfer cable isn't included, but you can use a normal USB storage drive to transfer the data. I believe the USB storage is limited to 16gb
The discount is not showing for me. The price remains at $49.99 all the way through checkout.
I knew about this earlier this week because of the rewards club email...I actually stalked outside on in Chicago before work until they opened at 9:00. The girl inside knew nothing of the deal, but went in back and got one...scanned it, and it came up at $49.99...but when I told her to scan my card, it came up under $20...as someone mentioned before, not only do you get it for $19.99, but then another 10% off. She sold me a $20 data transfer cable because I didn't know any better, but I'll be returning that tonight. all in all, I'm getting 6X the space I current have for less than a 20 spot...finally a day I can say I got a great deal at gamestop!
@americangrizzly: Did you enter your rewards number?
@sundevil98: I think you're going to be disappointed if you got this hard drive for a newer Xbox360 Slim. The newer slim model uses a different hard drive. This hard drive is for the older model Xbox360.
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot that you can make it fit the slim with some extra work.
If you have a friend with a Power Up card you can get the deal too. Just tell them you dont have your card on you but you know your phone number; then give them your friends phone number who actually pays for things like that. Worked for me just 30 min ago. Your friend will be happy with it cause of the bonus points, and you will be happy cause you got a 120GB HDD for $20 bucks. Going to mod mine to fit the S with a cheap case from Amazon.
It doesn't come with a transfer cable does it?
For directions on opening up the Hard Drive case, click and skip down to "Opening the 360 drive enclosure." You'll need Torx T6 and T10 screwdrivers or bits.
There's also a picture further down of a bare drive in a slim console.
Looks like it back to 50 bucks. Sorry I missed it.
