Super deal and it's fulfilled from amazon direct.
Is Hitachi a good brand for power tools? Or are these re-branded from a different manufacturer?
@fldeals: this is crap!!! i wouldnt even buy a T.V. from them or any other electronic item for that matter.
DO NOT BUY!!!!
@crowsnest: From Hitachi or Amazon?
crowsnest is obviously clueless about tools. power tools are not the same as tv's and certainly dont require the same technology. hitachi makes great tools. this is a good deal if it works.e
I've seen these at a Lowes just over the weekend; they are pretty cheaply constructed, and not "durable", and are the entry level. Don't be fooled by the suggest retail/original price, as the Lithium model retails for that, and these are not them.
If you're going to buy entry level tools, I'd recommend checking out your local Lowes; Mine had a Skil set on clearance for $39.99 and included more tools than this offer. A chuckless drill, a jigsaw, flashlight, sander, as well as the charger. I mean, entry level is suppose to function for small jobs, and you won't feel bad about spending a lot when you do decided to upgrade to much better quality.....thats my opinion
@swader: the reason skil is so cheap right now is they went under.
I own a Hitachi rotary tool. It may look cheap, but it runs exceptionally well and I've ha it for two years now. I'd buy this with confidence if I needed it.
This is not a deal. Retail price is inflated. Old technology nicad batteries, not L-ion.
Horrible, batteries last like almost 5 minutes
Supposedly good quality entry level tool. Too bad the design looks like an alien laser from a saturday morning cartoon.
They were clearancing Hitachi tools and sets at Meijer last time I was there (less than a week ago).
I have had this set about 3 years, received as a gift. Case has very little extra storage. Charger is heavy. This is ok for home use, but would not want to make my living with it. Battery life is fine for most jobs. The other battery will charge in less time than it takes to drain the one you are using. Drill is lighter than many (good thing), clutch works well, and controls are logically placed. When you get the drill in a bind, the seams spread slightly, but I have dropped it and hammered with it and the case is still together. Seems like a good value for home use and for people that like a smaller, lighter drill.
