Drats Amazon, more money spent on ridiculously cheap music. Looks like I'm buying the most popular album in American history (Eagles GH 1) for at least the fourth time. Guess that's how they keep selling more of them.

@idontkn1: How can you buy it more than once? If I select an album that I have purchased before, there is a message at the top that indicates that I have purchased before.
Anyway, I already have most of the ones that I want from previous purchases - including the Eagles. This time I picked up The Doors, Seals & Crofts, Enya, and Peter, Paul and Mary. I may come back and look again later, if I have time.
@sacole: It's pretty easy when you've been listening to the album for 35 years (Vinyl, Cassette, CD and now mp3).

@randymilleriii: After 20 years, probably 60 different cd players and a car flood, ripping mp3s on that disc is no longer an option. In case you were wondering the glue used on the foil labels of music cds is no match for a few hours of water submersion. For those old enough, remember when cds came out and the hype was that they were nearly indestructible?

@randymilleriii: Unless you subscribe to Cloud Player Premium, you are only able to upload a certain number of digital tracks onto the Cloud. 250 is sticking out in my mind but I'm not certain of the quantity limit.

@idontkn1: Compared to cassettes they pretty much are. I remember sticking a bic pen in the little wheel to roll back up disenbowled cassettes, and once trying to take the little reel to reel; assembly out of a crushed case and reassemble it into another one (fail!).

I never realized CDs had a foil "label" although maybe some of the old ones did.
Most commercial CDs have a metallized layer on top, which is actually part of the process that stores the digital data. The visible label can be printed directly on top of the metallized layer, although often there is a clear over-coat on top of the metallized layer, and the visible ink printing is on top of that over-coat.
I've certainly cleaned a lot of CDs, using warm water and dish soap, and never had any sort of problem with water. But I can't say it's impossible; there's an exception to every rule. I will have to find an old Lawrence Welk CD somewhere and soak it for a few days to see what happens.
@crowbite: The Polydor and Columbia cds were the worst of the lot. Lost probably 100 cds that way including just about every Clapton album. I still have images in my head of the foil paint/liner flaking off all of them. With the tops destroyed the laser was not reflected back properly.
Make sure you check back on this every couple of days. Amazon has had a 2.99 section for a while... and every couple of days they update their selection to include more and more albums.
(sigh) Bought seven of these and one for $3.99 that I found. So much for saving money.
