I have this set, and it is full of documentary information. However, it is of poorer quality than something you'd see on A&E, for example.

I paid more for these a while ago, and thought I made a good purchase. I now think that it would have been better at this price point.

I am both a war buff and a documentary buff, and I haven't been able to get through the civil war disks I pulled out of the box the day I received them.

That might say something about my attention span, but I think it says more about this collection.

I for one will be much more wary the next time a box of 30+ war videos shows up in a can.

@bknabl: Absolutely nothin'. Nice reference to Edwin Starr.

@xxcoder: Don't need them. Bullets go this way, bullets go that way, and the guy in the middle is sayin "what do ya want from me?"

Once again, no information on captions or subtitles.

@raven975: Hey, if you are serious, I'll buy your set! I can do paypal too!

My favorite part of this collection, is when they discuss the recording of 'Low Rider'.

ordered it for my dad for his birthday because he's a war buff. He liked it. Sure some of the footage is boring and most of the movies are dated, but it's still pretty rad... I mean a lot of that boring footage is pictures and stuff I've / he's never seen and those old dated movies are kind of a commentary on the times and the Hollywood view of war and what not.

I thought it was great for 20 bucks...and now that it's 17 I'm going to grab another for my grandfather for fathers day.

I got this set for my brother-in-law a couple of years ago for Christmas. He's a big war buff and it made for the perfect gift!! He's not normally one to show a lot of reaction, but his face lit up when he opened it and his response was along the lines of "wow, that is so cool."

Great father's day present, got it about 2 Woot-offs ago and i'm patiently waiting to give it to him.

Best gift I ever got for my father and for my father-in-law.

I will sale someone my new set for $12, with $5 shipping if anybody wants it?

@troller11: No Video footage of the Civil War? Well, that's a deal breaker right there!

vote-for2vote-against

Does this mean that these will no longer be making their regular Wootoff appearance?! :D

Bought this set a couple years back, still haven't finished them all. My travel schedule often puts me wide awake at 2-3 a.m. in hotels, so I take these to watch instead of flipping through infomercials. I'm not a war buff of any type but I do find a lot of these pretty interesting.

Unless you are a WWII fanatic, I'd leave this one be. My hub got the can of DVDs a few years ago as a gift from his brother who shops here. We both love old war movies and tried watching random disks from the set. It was a collection of old unheard of B movies and dry documentaries that numbed our minds and made our eyes glaze over. Normally we are very easily entertained, but this was a stinker to us. We threw away the disks and kept the nice metal can!

I have this, paid $20. Never heard of most of them, quality isnt great. War buff friend was gifted a set, he'd never watched any of them.

I am beginning to think that Woot IS the factory where they make these.

vote-for4vote-against

Wow I was just talking about this box set over here I've watched a few videos out of it and they're pretty good. Don't expect major blockbuster quality and you'll be fine. This would probably make a great father's day gift -hint hint-

Good series, i bought one on woot about a year ago. Its a mix of documentaries. Some by US army and Navy some by other sources. All in all if you like documentaries and war it well worth the money. Some documentaries are not great. But Civil war, ww1 and ww2 were really good.

Price is dropping now. I paid $2 more three months ago.

I've got this set. You get a lot of history for the money. But remember this is a historical set. It's got as much about the history of the US in war as war footage. And the older wars, such as the Civil War, don't have any video footage, only photos or recreated scenes. This can make for some tedious watching.

Woot must have bought these by the cargo shipping crate full.

Long ago when this came up on a Woot, my wife was considering giving it to her dad. My wife's dad died 2 years ago, and this didn't happen right before he died, so you know how long these have been around here. They must have been up at least a dozen times, not including woot-offs.
