This is a fantastic series. There are only three episodes but they are 90 minutes long, so it's more like three movies than a TV series.

@moondrake: As a self-proclaimed Sherlock Holmes fanatics...I agree!

I loved this first season and can't wait for the next season to come out!

I've been wanting to see this! Didn't know they were 90 mins each, heard that they were very good though. Thanks for the post!

I bought my region-free bluray from Amazon.co.uk £11 ($15) -- Shipped from New Jersey.

as someone who has read all the sherlock holmes books this show is an amazing modern retelling of the classic stories. Its much better than the Hollywood movies and is a fantastic show in general.

@bryantanner I believe yours shipped from the island of Jersey across the atlantic and not from the fine garden state.

While the late Jeremy Brett was THE Sherlock Holmes character, this isn't bad at all.

Fans who have the opportunity to watch the Brett series from PBS/BBC should do so - a remarkable and unvarnished portrayal of the character.

Maybe the best show on PBS in years....

Price is a bit much for 3 episodes even if they are 90 min. Even if they were 60min episodes then this would be equivalent to about 5 episodes.

Don't get me wrong I absolutly LOVE this series and can't wait for the new episodes, just hard to swallow a $22 price for it.

What's up with that link embedded in the description?

It's a Facebook redirect to a very odd Amazon URL all of which is hidden behind a tinyurl link.

Shouldn't it just be http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00499LTLM ?

@mkentosh: Aside from MI-5/Spooks. Don't get me wrong, Sherlock is bloody fantastic, but Spooks is hands-down the best drama to show on PBS or any other network.

Ridiculously good show -- makes me a little embarrassed to be a product of this (often-times) obliviously "dummed-down" society. Just sayin'.

Series two wrapped last weekend. Saw the finale last night. It's been with me all day.

@bryantanner: does it work on US bluray players?

vote-for2vote-against

@dinobonoid: It depends on whether your Bluray player has the ability to convert a 50i signal to the normal US 60i. Many can, and the ones sold on Amazon.co.uk are region-free, so if your player has this ability, you can play them.

For a list of compatible players, see this list: http://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-players-recorders/95245-us-blu-ray-players-50hz-compatibility.html

@lll0228: Thanks for the list, but I can't find my blu-ray player, Sony BDP-BX18 on it :( and maybe I'm googling it wrong but I can't find any info on it being able to play 50i... gah

@dinobonoid: Unfortunately your Sony cannot deal with PAL (50i). But you can always stream or get the BluRay from our own Amazon.com, you know? The cost difference is not worth the hassle.

Available on Netflix, just so ya'll know.
