the deal killer for me is:
Not valid for special events or private screenings. VIP Super Saver tickets are not valid first 12 days of "selected" new release films, special engagements or where prohibited by contractual obligations. $1.50 upgrade fee may be paid at the box office for admission to these "selected" new release films.
I love going to movies the first weekend they are out and I usually go first thing on Saturday when the theater is not packed and tickets are only $8
I think the above concern is mitigated a bit by the statement that follows it:
"$1.50 upgrade fee may be paid at the box office for admission to these "selected" new release films."
So for new releases, I assume that would mean the total price of admission would be $8. Where I live, the average non-matinee ticket price is around $10+, so it's still not too bad of a deal here.
I went in for the 4-pack at $26. My only concern is that after I purchased it, the Groupon site said that it could be redeemed at "one of the following 20 locations"; however, the terms of the value pack at Regal said that it can be redeemed at any Regal, United, or Edwards Cinemas. I'm going to choose to believe (and push for) Regal's terms over Groupon's on that point.
Not a bad discount -- especially with prices constantly increasing for movie theaters! Thanks for posting this deal!!
I have asked the question on my local Groupon, as yet unanswered, can these be used separately?
Booooo, the 20 locations it's valid at are all in MD, VA or DC.
@j0hnlind: I asked Groupon and they answered that they give you 4 separate coupons to be used as needed.
@polishdon: The Q&A page states that they are valid nationwide.
does anyone know what are the surcharges for 3D, IMAX and IMAX 3D?
Do they mail you a physical ticket, or can I print online? This is a great deal. Even with the upgrade fee. Most movies won't fall into the upgrade category and it's still cheaper. Tickets are around $10.50 at my local. Even if it only saves me $2.50 per ticket, it's still a savings.
@pleepleus: you can print them from the Groupon website one by one. I got the 4 pack - the closest regal (I go there pretty often since it is downtown and pretty good) is pretty expensive. Most movies are 11 or 12.
