not all of the games are free, and some of those listed did not come up when I searched Steam.
I remember peggle extreme was a ton of fun, def recommend.
Anyone else have some experience with these?
COIL was a demo.
I searched for "Codename" and "Gordon" and never came up with anything.
Stopped right about there...
If you would read the post (the actual link, not the description on Woot), it says that many of these are mistakenly listed as demos on the storefront page (any game with a [1] beside it).
Also, some games have had their storefront pages taken off of Steam, but their install link still works.
For example, if you click on the install link for Codename Gordon, then Steam will begin downloading Codename Gordon.
You have to have Steam installed in order for the install links to work.
@ revragnarok: read through the comments in the steam user forum. It goes into detail on what aznshorty said.
I'm downloading a few of these now!
If you follow the link, you can just click the [install] button next to the game name, and you won't have to do any searching for it.
Free games through steam, sweet.
I'm in for Peggle, Portal, and Zero Gear.
Just like to let you know that Portal: First Slice is essentially a demo. Only the first half of the game, actually.
Thank you aznshorty67 for explaining everything. A lot of the games here are mistaken as demos and all of them are available by clicking the "install" button to the right of the game.
Insanely awesome. I'm glad I bought Counter-Strike: Source when it was $5 because now I can use all the Source SDK mods that are available for free. Not only that, the games listed have some good replay value; HL: Deathmatch being the best.
Wow this is a very good deal, I am surprised that I didn't learn about this earlier. Thank you for this post.
This stuff is old as hell.
Not common knowledge I guess :P
portal: first slice is just the first level of the game, how is that free? its just a demo?
To add to the list, Team Fortress 2 is now free to play on steam. If you don't have it already, download it now. Seriously fun game.
