I'm a little surprised at the downvoting on this one... Cigars International is a solid online business that I've purchased from plenty of times in the past, and the price they're charging is basically the cost of the herf-a-dor, and the stogies are all icing on the cake after that.

@cornellbigred: no where does it say "New customers only." its listed as an "Introductory offer for New Customers" on the screen, but I had no problem whatsoever with throwing one in my cart, and running through checkout with it... Even if it was limited to new customers, you don't have to log in to use Paypal checkout, so that would work too.

@waltertangofoxtrot probably all the non smokers out there trying to tell us what to do.

vote-for22vote-against

@genemcsween: Prolly. Too bad they don't know what they're missing out on.

@jyoz22: Protip: EVERY person who chooses to smoke is Well aware of the fact tobacco causes cancer, and death. "wait, these things are bad for me? I though they had like Vitamin C in them or something!!!"

How long will these last? My family has a tradition of Christmas cigars, so I'm wondering if these will still be good in a month..

vote-for14vote-against

@kirika: Well, being that they ship in a travel humidor, you can make them last to Christmas. just need to be careful to keep the humidifier moist, but not so wet as to make the cigars a sopping mess.

I have cigars I've been "Aging" for the last 2 or 3 years. Literally means I just have them sitting in a humidor, and make sure the sponges remain damp. If you're worried about them drying out, and don't want to invest in a full on Humidor, and are worried that the air tight, water tight Herf-a-dor isn't going to cut it, you can always put them in a tupperware with a small square of dampened sponge in a soda bottle cap. Bonus points if you throw in a cedar plank.

vote-for12vote-against

@kirika: You'd need to keep them in a humidor of some sort if you want to store it until Christmas as cigars need to be in a slightly warm and humid environment. Most people go with the 70/70 rule which is 70% humidity and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. When I first started smoking cigars I made the mistake of not setting up a humidor and my cigars went dry within a few weeks (in a ziplock bag w/o a humidifier).

I've never used a herf-a-dor to store anything for more than a couple of days, but you might be able to use that. It is just a travel case though. Remember to add a "cigar juice" to the herf, you can buy it or make your own 50/50 solution of propylene glycol and distilled water.

Your best bet, if you don't want to invest in a real cedar humidor, is probably making a temp humidor out of a Tupperware container. The Googles can help you.

vote-for5vote-against

@publicart: When I see Stogies on the line, I tend to swoop and act fast.

The one disadvantage I can think of for storing in the Herf-a-dor for the month is I don't know if the interior foam or the glue used to build it will affect the cigar flavor. I know one of my cheaper travel humidors tends to make my cigars get an odd taste to them if I leave them in it for more than a week. Herf-a-dor is at least one of the nicer ones, and hopefully used better materials than the ultra cheap one I had used.

Got one for a Christmas gift

I just started smoking cigars weekly about 2 months ago. I smoke maybe every 5 or so days at a local parlor with a bunch of other people speaking about politics, rumors, sports, etc.

Great way to pass an hour of time. I've been smoking some great Undercrowns and Romeo & Julieta's, along with some Champagne 10th Anniversary Perdomo.

vote-for6vote-against

@waltertangofoxtrot: Good point. Wrapped stogies have been fine in my herf, but I just smelled one of my spare and unused herf-a-dors and they do have a kind of sweet chemical smell to them that would probably mess with the flavors after a few weeks. Tupperware seems like your best bet @kirika.

vote-for6vote-against

@jgmcgowan: Not bad, I personally go for Gurkhas, and Arturo Fuentes, but that's just me, and it depends on what tastes you lean towards. A good smokeshop can be hard to find at times, and not all smokeshops are as welcoming of new people as others. One local place in particular, I almost always felt like an outsider when I was in there, with everyone else ignoring me, whereas at another, it didn't matter who was there, random people would say hi to me, and engage me in the current conversation.

vote-for5vote-against

@jgmcgowan: Nice, I've been meaning to try some Romeo & Julieta's. Not so much a fan of Perdormo. Gonna agree with @waltertangofoxtrot on the Gurkhas and Arturo Fuentes. I'm a big fan of Drew Estate and 5 Vegas too though.

vote-for5vote-against

@mattca: If you're actually going to wait until Christmas to gift them make sure to keep those stogies in some sort of humidor (like we've been recommending to kirika).

vote-for7vote-against

@publicart: Drew Estates Naturals are really good. The Acid lineup they do isn't bad, but I gotta be in the right mood to go for one of those. 5Vegas is alright, but I haven't smoked one of those in forever. CAO's are hit and miss for me, depending on the type and size. I steer away from Rocky Patel's though, because for some reason they almost always give me a headache.

As far as the cigars actually included in this deal, The Cohiba red-dot is probably the most distinct and flavorful cigar in there. The Gurkha Beast is dark, earthy and down to business, yet not harsh like one would expect. The Man O' War Ruination on the other hand is exactly as the name suggests: strong, angry, and you definitely know you're smoking it. very flavorful, but not as refined as the Cohiba or the Gurkha. The La Gloria Cubana, is probably good, but I haven't personally smoked the N series. the Padilla Miami toro is the "cheapie" in the stack, but still not bad.

vote-for-6vote-against

@waltertangofoxtrot: You would think so. Unfortunately most people say they smoke cigars because they are "healthier" than cigarets. I just wanted to point this out in a sarcastic manner. Anyways, it's a free country and everyone can do as they please. Just sharing my opinion :-P

vote-for4vote-against

Says one per customer- but ordered two simply by processing one order, backing out and reclicking the provided link here. Sooo- in for 2 as gifts to my cigar buddies!

vote-for4vote-against

In for one here. The Humidor alone is worth the cash. 5 cigars as a bonus? Sounds good to me!

vote-for4vote-against

While the 5 for 15.00 sampler with herf-ador is ok, the 10 Gurhkas for 25.00 box in clearance tab is great! 2.50 a stogie for Gurks! Can't wait!

vote-for5vote-against

IMHO, it comes with some great cigars that are definitely worth a try and all for the price of a case... In for one :)

vote-for2vote-against

If only I was 21, I'd be buying almost every cigar deal that showed up on woot. :(

vote-for4vote-against

Herf-a-dors are not for long term storage. They are too air tight and you can get some mold issues. They are great for Dryboxing your smokes though. Cigars store and age best at 70% humidity but seem to smoke best between 64%~67% humidity (Depending on the cigar) By moving your cigar out of the humidor and into the Herf-a-dor (or another air tight container)a few days to a week before smoking your cigar it helps to slowley bring the moisture in the cigar down some to make it burn better.

vote-for2vote-against

Went in for 1, and added another gift on the cart.

vote-for10vote-against

In for 1. Just as an added nugget for first time Cigars International buyers. CI's Customer Service is TOP NOTCH! If you smoke cigars then you should check out Cigars International.

vote-for4vote-against

Totally in for 1. Nice find!

vote-for2vote-against

I thought this would be a great gift and I'm so glad I read the comments. I ordered one as a Christmas gift and also ordered a Spanish cedar plank for about ten bucks to put in the Tupperware with the bottle cap and sponge. Thank you so much!!!

vote-for0vote-against

@jyoz22: your opinion is not welcome here as you are trying to discourage an action adults have taken. If you want to look after others go volunteer at your local charities and do something from someone. Once you earn his or her respect then try to inject your "wisdom" in their heads. Here no one asked you about it, you just make the product commentaries go sour. if this is your intention, now you did it so off you go. go on now.....

vote-for3vote-against

In for one. Not a big cigar guy and I am new to it but seems like a good deal and a good start.

Thanks for all the good information in the posts above I bought some cigar juice to go with it to keep them fresh slightly longer.

vote-for3vote-against

@akhoward: You don't take very well to sarcasm. As an adult I too respect the actions AND opinions of others. I was being sarcastic. Your response shows how little maturity you have. Others who have responded have done so in a mature and respectful manner, you however have not.

I believe the forums and comments are open for all to express their opinions and for those opinions to be liked (via an up-vote) or disliked (via a down-vote). While you are free to dislike my comment you are not free to tell me that my opinion is not welcomed.

Additionally, I have done lots of community service before and will hopefully continue to do so.

If you would have read my latter comments you will note I have nothing against people doing as they wish. Anyways, a little respect and maturity will take you a long way.

vote-for4vote-against

As a long-time smoker, I thought jyoz22's comment was funny, and I upvoted him to counter some of the negativity. Why so serious?

On a different topic though, I've mostly stuck to pipe since I've not found a current cigar that tastes as good as the ones I remember from even as recent as the '90s, let alone further back. I really wish I could though.

vote-for2vote-against

@raydog26: If you're planning on long term storage, but not wanting to invest in a humidor, I suggest the Tupperware suggestion because juice and the herf-a-dor won't keep them fresh forever (and may make your smokes smell weird after a while). If you do end up keeping a collection in a humidor, don't forget to season it first, and humidity beads are better for long term storage. Good luck! I know I'm excited to try that Cohiba!

@1ezmonkey: Interesting, I've never heard this before. I'll give it a try!

Perfect gift for my brother who needs nothing! Thanks for posting the offer.

Arrived yesterday, and I couldn't be any happier! Super fast shipping and very fresh cigars. I've only had one so far and it was delicious. If you haven't got one yet then get it now.

vote-for1vote-against

That website is (profanity)..... I placed my order and never got an email confirmation and now the order doesn't show up at all in my account. So I have no way to prove I ordered it at the discounted rate. I got screwed out of my order.....

vote-for2vote-against

@publicart: Never got my order but thank you for advice !

vote-for0vote-against

@cornellbigred: you can still get one, is limit one per customer, not just new customer.

vote-for1vote-against

Oh nice. It didn't show offer when I tried to check out again. But if you use this specific link and not just they site it works. Weird setup
