I have the 3000mAh version of this (the white one), and it works great! I've used it to charge my phone, my wireless keyboard, my MP3 player, my Kindle, and even run my Raspberry Pi (ran for about 5 hours at 100% CPU utilization).

However, I wouldn't really expect it to output 2.1A. I tested charging my Touchpad with it, and it didn't work in Android (which, to be fair, is extremely picky. I have to use the OEM charger AND cable). When the device was shut-off, it would work, but that doesn't seem too practical. Also, the Kindle (old white 3G keyboard one) seemed weird about the charging, but it worked, so whatever.

I think it's rather handy. It's meant for emergency situations, of course, so just don't expect it to run your home theater setup, and you should be happy.

I have the Energizer XP8000 which is a 5000 mAh comparable product I got from Woot for $50 a while back. This is a pretty comparable price.

One note though is that the XP8000 came with this piece called the "PC007 iPad USB adapter". That little adapter is awesome! Need to find out where you can find another! It solves the issue of the 2.1 amps required off at 0.5 amp source

Is there a code? Price is showing up as 28.95

I so needed one of these this summer. I'll have it for the next trip. In for one. And they take Paypal. I like when sites do that.

Will it also charge by Galaxy Tab 7"? Looks like the mAh might be a little low for the Asus Transformer. But it's seriously my phone that kept dying, because that's what I used constantly.

@goatcrapp: Look at the other column of prices, under the discounted price. ;-)

For the record, my shipping was $3.97.

@banai: wow.. i'm not sure how i missed that :X thanks :)

I have had terrible experiences and service with Monoprice products. I purchased a large order, and half of the items failed. When I tried to return them, Monprice gave me a hard time. I finally had to get Paypal to step in and make them refund my money for the returned items. I would never do business with Monoprice again.

@easygoingal: On the flip-side, I've ordered tons of stuff from Monoprice and have never had an issue with their stuff. Guess it's a matter of YMMV.

i've only ever had good experiences with monoprice products. I have order from them at least 8 times and have never been disappointed.

Anybody own one of these already? I'm wondering how long the battery charge lasts when it's just sitting around. I'd probably only use this in emergencies (like the hurricane we just had). Also, is it strong enough to power a laptop?

vote-for3vote-against

@goatcrapp: Probably the same way I did...I use Monoprice all the time...never seen that other column before...

@banai: The ASUS Transformers have 15V chargers, and this is only 5V, so you'll get the same weak charging you get if you try to charge your Transformer off your computer's USB.

@randymilleriii: It definitely won't power a laptop. It only outputs 5V DC, your laptop likely plugs into a wall outlet of 120V AC. It should be great for any USB powered/charged device. My smartphone uses its 2000mah battery in about a day, so, with this being 5000mah, you should get a couple full charges on it. Tablets, probably 1 full charge.

I bought this a while back and it works great. I have used it several times to charge my S3 and HP Touchpad. Great prce.

If shoprunner could get monoprice on board I think they'd see a huge increase in new members. They already have newegg which is awesome.

have had this product for ~ 4-5 months now and am pleased with it. I've had success using this on my IPad, IPhone, MiFi and portable speaker. i also have the Duracell battery packs that Woot has had a few times and as imagined this battery holds more power. but it is also considerably bigger and doesn't slip in your pocket as easily as the duracell.

i just bought another one last night (at the old price) to give to my parents who are still w/o power from the hurricane. anyone know if Monoprice has a price policy?

In for one plus some network cables while I'm there...
EDIT: I have ordered from monoprice before, still using HDMI cables from them I ordered years ago and they are trouble-free.

Never had to deal with their customer service dept., though.

For those wondering about Monoprice's customer service, my first order from them was lost in the mail. I contacted the Post Office, and they basically said, "We have no idea where your package is. Too bad." I then emailed Monoprice and they sent my order again, free of charge. They definitely didn't have to do that, so I'm pretty happy with them.

I grabbed one. CA tax was $2, shipping $4, total $29.10

This sounds like a good price for a decent product. If you want or need something with a little more punch, try out the New Trent IMP99D (or IMP120D, i think). They are 9900 and 12000 MAh, respectively. I used my IMP99D to watch movies on my phone (Galaxy SII) from Cincinnati to Nagoya, Japan and back. I fogot to bring the charger for it, so I couldn't even recharge it while in Japan. It was a combined total of about 48 hours of travel. The battery pack was still over 25% charge remaining when I got home, too.

I've had a few issues with Monoprice products (an car USB charger thingy that fell apart, a fan that was DOA, a cable that failed) they just sent me replacements after I filled out the RMA form. It was completely painless.

I'm an on call charter pilot, and have to have my phone charged and ready to go. It's a pain in the arse to always lug around my powercords and try to find a spot where I can charge my phone and Ipad while I'm on the run.

This is going to help a lot!

I've just received mine and I am having troubles getting it to work on my GS3. It seems fully charged, and wont power my phone from either the 2.1amp slot or the 1 amp slot.

Help! What am I doing wrong here?

And I've figured it out. It came with no instructions so I assumed it was just plug and play style. Turns out you have to hold the button to turn it on. Duh. Oh well! Seems to work fine! Happy to have this for camping trips and the like.
