Aren't the new ones being announced next week?

vote-for8vote-against

Wait for iPad 2 in 2 months this isn't a good deal

vote-for6vote-against

What do these things go for new?

vote-for3vote-against

The same phenomenon happened with the Wii

vote-for3vote-against

Might as well wait for iPad 2. It is supossed to have a lower price and more features than iPad 1.

vote-for9vote-against

Outdated by the time it arrives at your door. Pass.

vote-for1vote-against

@wakeen: why do you think this one is on sale?

vote-for1vote-against

90 day woot warranty, & that's it? Thanks, apple.

vote-for2vote-against

HOW MUCH for the iPAD II when it comes out???????????

vote-for4vote-against

I have no need for a camera on my ipad. Hence why I purchased one a month ago. For this price and knowing how good apple is with refurbs is a heck of a deal. I payed 500 for the 16gig version.

Edit: Sorry did not realize this did not come from Apple. Spend the extra few bucks and get it from them.

$599.00 New from Apple

or

$499.00 Refurbished from Apple

vote-for6vote-against

If you consider free shipping then it's only $15 more for a refurb at the Apple store.

And it has a one year warranty.

"Remember the immediate reaction everybody had to the name “iPad”? Funny how you don’t hear that anymore."

Allowing for shipping, this is only $15 less than Apple's price for a 32GB Wifi-only model. That's really unimpressive!

vote-for1vote-against

@videosensations: Actually, the chatter now is that at least the WiFi iPad 2 may be available much quicker than the "experts" thought" -- possibly just like the MacBookPro update Thursday--available soon (within an hour) of the announcement. Will be interesting to see but I think it will be well before 2 months from now when consumers are enjoying the new model.

vote-for2vote-against

The iPad 2 isn't going to be THAT different. It will have front and back cameras and faster chips, but (I read) Apple purposefully DOESN'T want to make the first model feel so obsolete just yet. I actually have the 32 gig Wifi. It was a gift I never asked for, and it is fun. Probably more fun than productive. Anyway, if the iPad 2 has a usb port, then maybe I'll cry.

@cruiz7197: Tune in next week. Only Steve, Tim & friends know the answer to that.

vote-for1vote-against

$499 respiffied from Apple with free shipping. For $15, it's probably worth it to order direct from Apple in case your iPad is DOA or has some serious issue, vs handling the exchange through Woot. $599 for brand new with free engraving...

For a fixed price product, any discount is good, just not sure that this time it's worth the saving of 3%.

vote-for2vote-against

@txstiger: "enjoying" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I've only seen one out in the "wild", and it's owner was cussing it loudly. I am sure there are those that love them, but 'round these parts..... not so much.

vote-for1vote-against

If I hadn't bought my wife one less than two weeks ago i would be all over this. I even went to go check the return policy to see if I could return this and still save a few bucks over the 16 GB one I bough. Stupid 15% restocking fee!

vote-for3vote-against

Let me summarize what some people are saying for those that don't follow technology news. There is an Apple announcement on March 2nd that is supposedly for a new iPad. It would probably be wise to wait until then before purchasing to see what the price is on the new one and if the prices drop on the old ones.

vote-for1vote-against

@gladeye: If it has any port for such things, knowing Apple's history & the fact they just rolled it out on the new MacBookPros, I'd bet on Thunderbolt. I'd be shocked if they stuck a usb on there considering how heavily they're betting on Thunderbolt (formerly Intel's "Light Peak" brand).

iPad cases are currently 50% off at company-owned AT&T stores.

vote-for3vote-against

@slcfan: I'd say that quite a few are enjoying them since the iPad is responsible for over $6 billion of Apple profit in Q1 of 2011. I don't know where "these parts" are but if you've only seen one, you truly are out in the "wild."

Who did the refurbishing on this ipad. I have the 64GB Wifi refurb. from Apple and the box that it came in is different. It says refurb on the front with no picture of the ipad. Apple refurbs go back to china and are rebuilt and look like new. I'm all for saving money but it's probably safer to go with an apple refurb. for the extra 20$ + tax.

vote-for2vote-against

@txstiger: I would think a large college campus would be an appropriate place to expect to see popular mobile technology.

vote-for2vote-against

@gladeye: They're plenty productive. From ESPN's use of them ( http://preview.tinyurl.com/ESPN-iPad-xbox ) to healthcare, Hollywood, IT Departments everywhere, they are becoming one of the most widely used tools used and they're just scratching the surface. I have to admit that I've been surprised. They were given out to our company's Hospital CEO's and were initially a toy for most of us. A contest challenging each hospital's leadership & IT Departments produced uses all over the place & most of us find them more important in our daily lives than our desktops/laptops. I've been completely blown away.

vote-for2vote-against

@slcfan: And you've seen only one?

I'm calling BS on that.

vote-for1vote-against

Don't forget the $41 sales tax !!! :(

vote-for3vote-against

@txstiger: I swear on all that is good and holy that not counting display models in stores and such, I have only seen one iPad actually in a persons hands.

vote-for5vote-against

Not even worth $300 considering the Xoom is out and blows this puppy out the water.

vote-for1vote-against

If this is a factory refurb, it should have a 1 yr. warranty. If someone else did the refurbishing, it's used as far as Apple is concerned, and you have however much of the warranty is left -- one year from the original purchase date. The Genius Bar or any Apple authorized repair center will fix and/or replace under warranty, regardless of where you bought it, so shipping it back to Woot shouldn't be an issue.

That said, as others have noted, this is $15 more at the Apple store, which will ship a lot faster; and with the new models coming out Tuesday, the old refurbs will be cheaper next week (or shortly thereafter, if the iPad 2 isn't shipping for a while after the announcement).

vote-for3vote-against

If I were a trend following zombie who had to have the latest gadget in a pathetic attempt to impress people I'd be all over this.

vote-for2vote-against

The Xoom is $600 with a 2-year contract from Verizon. Or $800 with no contract.

How does the existence of a higher-end tablet negate the value of this one?

vote-for1vote-against

Don't know if this matters, but the weight on this is for the 3G model, which would put this around $729 brand new - savings of about $250

vote-for3vote-against

i get embarrassed on behalf of ipad users when i see people using them in public.

vote-for1vote-against

I don't know..this looks like a good deal if you factor in tax and the lesser cost...you would save atleast $50.00 from buying it from Apple. Plus you can Jailbreak this one. I have an Ipad and a Galaxy Tab and they are both great devices but you can really do more with an IPAD atleast for now. I am tempted to buy another one to use in a DJ setup as two virtual turntables....hmmmmm.

vote-for3vote-against

way to say it cmader, I didn't have anything that clever, but I just don't know what to think of people who have any Apple product, some are cool, some are chic, popular, stylish, but c'mon people where is the substance?
The Xoom looks like it Rocks!! and it has the specs to back it up, that is innovation, dual core CPU, expandable memory, HDMI output, just a better quality product all around

vote-for1vote-against

@txstiger: If the iPad 2 announced on March 2, 2011 has Thunderbolt, I will buy you 12 iPad 2's.

vote-for4vote-against

@pinchecat: I get embarrassed on behalf of people who are too self-conscious to use useful devices in useful situations. As for me, I have enough self-confidence that I carry my iPad around in a bright yellow messenger bag, which some might call a man-purse. Some people laugh...until they ask to see the iPad, and subsequently spend an hour using it.

vote-for2vote-against

XOOM baby!

If you know what I mean :)

vote-for1vote-against

As much as some people mock the iPads, they're great for what they're meant to be used--casual web surfing, maybe a bit of email, and minor document editing. My dad has one, and he loves it.
