It's NOT 80% off. You can't add the discounts. The 30% is applied to the purchase price, not the full retail price before the original "up to 50% off." If an item were 40% off, and you get an additional 30% discount, you would pay 60% of the original price, minus another 30% of the 60% price (60 X 30%), for an additional 18% off. You get a total of (40 + 18)% discount, which equals 58% off. Not 40% plus 30% for 70% off.

So in the case of the Columbia sale, the max discount is 50% off the original price minus another 30% off (50 X 30%) which is 65% off. Just remember in all offers with more than one percentage discount, that the discounts are applied one after the other on the price, and not all at once.

I have been shopping for a Columbia jacket for my daughter for a couple of months now and being the avid sale shopper that I am, have waited until I found what I consider to be the best possible price that I can get. I ordered her a jacket that is at Dick's for $200.00 and on Amazon for $159.00 for $140.00 on the Columbia site. I also got free shipping which just sealed the deal. I am thrilled and can't wait for her to get it.
