Is it possible to get the coupon code applied to in-store pickup?

vote-for1vote-against

You can still reserve at a store if one is close and pick up there. It's available at all stores near my home.

Says they have one beside me, but don't know if I can use the promo code for it.

This promo went live yesterday. By this morning, just about every tablet eligible was sold out. Be aware that they are clearing out old models to make room for new releases. They will all be priced at the same price as current ones. Thirty bucks is not enough for me to settle for an outdated tablet when newer and better ones will be in stock soon (already are at some outlets)....

I did the online chat with Staples. They said you can't use the coupon code anymore, because it is only good if you order online. Since it's out of stock, the deal is expired.

@faughtey: That's because the coupon code is different for in-store purchases than for online purchases. The in-store coupon code is 35852. Go to http://www.staples.com/coupons to print an in-store coupon.

@cleverett: They had some at my local store so I reserved one. I will pick it up in the morning and attempt to use the coupon you linked to. Crossing my fingers they will accept it, I have had trouble with them accepting coupons before.

Headed into the store this morning, they are not honoring the coupon on the e-readers, ONLY the tablets... at least that's the story I got from the MoD at my local store.

The coupon is NOT valid for this item in-store. I just called a store and had the guy put the item in the cart and then the coupon code in (yes, the in-store code) and it said there were no eligible items in the cart to apply the coupon to. So, you can't get this in-store for $39.00.

I just called my local Staples and they had 2 in stock. The clerk told me this was not considered a tablet and the coupon could not be used. YMMV.

Went to store. They did not accept the coupon because the unit is an "E-Reader" and not a "Tablet". Did anyone successfully use the coupon in a store?

I picked up the Kindle Paperwhite in store with coupon. I put the item in my cart online and went thru the checkout process and the coupon code worked, but I didn't hit the submit order button. (I wanted to make sure the coupon code was working for online ordering before going to local store.) But since my store had them in stock I went there. The coupon didn't work at first, but told them that I could order online and the coupon would work, they tried to do the same and the coupon worked online as well. So they just price adjusted it for me.

Worked online for a Kindle Paperwhite, got me $30 off; when applied the coupon say this:
"Save an additonal$30 on any Tablet ", it should work with the nook as well.

I was able to purchase a basic Kindle for $39 ($69 less the $30 coupon code) from Staples online & got free shipping to my home. I bought it Thursday night at 6:30PM CDT. I have an invoice & my credit card was charged. Supposed to receive it by Tuesday. We'll see what happens. I have been wanting the basic Kindle to carry around with me & use at the pool. I am a happy girl.

Well they were complete dicks at the store. The manager made a big scene about me "Trying to take advantage of a broken coupon, and that I should really be honest and realize that they didn't apply to the e-readers". Afterword's I called customer support and got no where after talking for like 30 minutes to them and they said they would transfer me to corporate. The guy then transferred me to a wrong #. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT STAPLES EVER AGAIN AND I WILL TELL ALL OTHERS NOT TO AS WELL. I told my wife that this company trains others on customer service on an article on the website that they have that the customer is always right. But when it comes to customer service at store or online they blow.

I went to the store with the coupon from the website and the listing of all the Kindle devices under Tablets. I talked to the General Manager but he wasn't budging. He said the coupon code I had (store coupon code) didn't work for this item. I left without the Kindle.

If you go to staples.com now and look for those products you'll find that they moved them all under another category. Previously they were listed under Tablets. Now they are listed under Phones/Cameras/Electronics > E-Readers/Accessories. Too bad many of us missed this.

On another note, I feel e-readers are all overpriced. You're paying over $100 for a device to read books. For that $100.00 you could simply buy a boatload of books and read them the old-fashioned way. The only way I was buying one of these was at a lower price like the $39.00 deal. Otherwise, pfft.

Hi all,
I took the coupon to one local Staples store, where the manager said he had received instructions NOT to honor it, since it was not a tablet. Then I went to a different Staples and spoke with staff and then the manager. I was calm and polite and explained some of the comments above, about how it worked online for the same product and people were buying $39 kindles. He eventually typed in the coupon manually and gave me the $30 discount on the $69 Kindle. So THANK YOU ALL for your info, and remember that good manners do sometimes work! I'm very happy to get this gift at this price. Woot-on!

I GOT ONE!! But it was a prob! The asst mgr at my Staples said no problem, and I have 2 others if you want all 3; then we are sold out. Problem was, he placed them at the front and left for lunch. The other "employees" felt they were the retail police and after repeating the deal for 4 diff peeps, the "lead" finally said, I WILL DO IT THIS ONE TIME--& ONLY FOR 1; this shd NOT BE, blah blah. I pulled out my phone & said that I wd show her that the e-readers are listed under tablets on their page... then she quieted down. Issue is the mgr KNOWS that as a teacher, I BUY A TON at Staples; the other employees must all be transfers/new as I didn't recog them, nor they me. The asst mgr never returned while I was there...

Bottom line, I got one and I'm thrilled cuz my 81 yr old Mom is having back surgery next month; I'm going to load this thing with all I can find; she likes to read--but who wants a TON of bks in the hospital! Besides Amazon, where else can I find free/cheap books?? Thx...

@theraven: Where are you getting a "boatload of books for $100? I have found that spending the money on a great ereader yields a lot of profit. There are many free and low priced ebooks online. Go to Amazon Kindle Store and sort books by price low to high...You will find thousands of free ebooks, and they are not all dosg either. In any case, ebooks these days are a lot cheaper than physical books, especially on Amazon. I have filled my readers fo pennies with books that would cost thousands in hardcover and paperback...

@Katzland, There is a website called "Freebooksy" and another called "Bargainbooksy". Also, there are quite a few others....Just Google "free ebooks"

Quick update if anyone is still looking at these comments. I got my Kindle today. It is a brand new Kindle 4. The charge on my credit card was $39 plus tax. I am a happy girl. Thank you Staples for honoring this coupon.
