Penetrating oil - is this KY brand?

"Hey babe... wanna go to my place and see my penetrating oil finish?"

This looks like a good product. I'm in.
Now I know who is always voting up those lingerie items. :P

umm.... I was able to order a sample of over twenty different wood stains... I will be extremely happy if I actually get even a few. I will use em for some little wood crafts I've made.

@adayinthelife: <---yet another person who takes advantage of the unfiltered free samples on legitimate websites interested in selling products to potential end customers, which will ultimately lead to them either removing the page altogether or canceling every order with http referrer codes coming from d.w. or any sample order placed this week. thanks!

Can I select one of each....

vote-for5vote-against

Wow! I was just starting to look for some new options for my furniture finishes. Fortuitous! I'm intrigued by their low VOC "Verde" line.

vote-for4vote-against

@moondragon:

+100 points for using fortuitous in a sentence.

vote-for3vote-against

Does that qualify as a sentence?

vote-for1vote-against

I am also looking for some variety in stain colors since I am building and staining a new fireplace mantle. Plus I want to restain my baseboards. So this is indeed a fortuitous day to have the product I desire listed for free! Added bonus is we actually have a store that carries these lines withing 5 miles so if I do find a color I like then I know where to go!

@pinchecat: Marketing 101 buddy. Taking a food sample from a place in a food court and continuing about your business in no different. Businesses account for the fact that plenty of people will take your freebie and not come back. The issue here is brand and product exposure. The percentage of sales conversions is almost always expected to be low.

You're also applying your negative bias to the intentions of the OP without knowing them. Maybe they need stain for some projects and wanted to share it with others that could also possibly benefit from this.

vote-for3vote-against

@akacinna: clearly you don't understand my point. to put it in the same light you mention, ordering 20 of them when given the opportunity is like grabbing the whole tray of food samples from the place in the food court.

vote-for-4vote-against

@pinchecat: You still don't understand the whole marketing bit. Sure, there will be a few that take advantage. That's life. This post and their offer still generates exposure for their brand and gets their product into the hands of others with some viable leads being created because of it.

vote-for2vote-against

@akacinna: thanks for your generous marketing insight, but rest assured i do understand the point you're failing to make. listen to daddy black triangle: we've witnessed countless deals of similar nature get posted on this site, and numerous folks comment with their "lol i ordered 50" rhetoric, which results in either none of us receiving squat or the site being moved or altered entirely.

vote-for4vote-against

@akacinna: Unless @pinchecat had a comment deleted that I didn't see (which is a realistic possibility heh), the points you're trying to make are not only completely irrelevant, but most of what you're saying doesn't even make sense lol..

"*You're also applying your negative bias to the intentions of the OP without knowing them. *" - I missed the part where he MENTIONED the OP.. let alone "applied his negative bias to her intentions." heh

And in your "food sample" comparison, this scenario is more like stealing the tray of sample cups and then punching the sample lady in the throat.

The point he's making is a simple and universally true one: Greedy people ruin it everybody.
(Oh and as for the OP.. GOOD DEAL :D)

@scottaavery: i'm with you, pretty sure a sentence must have more than one word ;p

How much wood, could a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood?....................................................I'm not sure, but my guess is a wood chuck wouldn't chuck any wood if it was stained with free samples of penetrating oils and wood stain.

vote-for1vote-against

Actually it was serendipitous
AND
How much woot could a wood chuck woot if a wood chuck could Chuck Norris!

vote-for1vote-against

this stuff really works great too. So much easier than stripping and staining and urethane!

SO! How many samples is a reasonable number to select here? I'm planning to install 2 unfinished wooden hand rails for my stairs and have hardwood floors I'd like them to either match or complement.

It seems unfair to get one of each. Like, incredibly unfair. But... I'm sure I could think of a million projects to use wood stains for(thinking of restaining and rebuilding my mini deck for example). There seems to be a lot of opinion here about taking advantage of this offer, so... care to weigh in, wooters? What's appropriate?

vote-for1vote-against

It kills me how people always want to mind other people's business. How about let the guy who wants to order a sample of every color option do just that and if the company decides this is in excess, the COMPANY can cancel his request or sent just a few samples... I doubt the company will decide to cancel everyone's order because of one individual.

Anyone else happen to notice this stuff has Brazilian Rosewood Oil in it? Unless the laws have changed in the last 6 months, I believe its illegal to use Brazilian Rosewood for anything.

vote-for1vote-against

I ordered these 4 weeks ago. After 10 days I got an email asking if I received them yet. I replied that I had not. I sent them another email tonight, because I still have not received them.

Maybe I'll try starting the sample order thing again and see what happens.
