This is one of those titles where an edit would have been good. If the words "power supply" aren't visible people may miss out.

For anyone that hasn't heard of COUGAR before, they're a solid brand. They generally only make >$100 power supplies. This is a darn good good.

@firebirdude: I'm going to strongly disagree with you on this unit.

One of the top power supply reviewers, Hardware Secrets, gave this unit a poor review. "Because of these problems, we can’t recommend this product."

It's a very bad idea to take a gamble on a power supply. Poorly manufactured power supplies can lead to disastrous results for the rest of your computer's components.

does this cougar box get hot when lots of devices are plugged into it?

this device actually thrives on younger computer builders

@rmonacelli: Agreed you shouldn't cheap out on your power supply, but their review wasn't horrible. They commented that the internal components were actually ahead of many other power supplies they've reviewed. They didn't cheap out. In addition, the power supply performed beautifully through most of their tests. Only at full load did they even notice anything negative. Efficiency dipped slightly below 80% and voltage tolerance was slightly out of spec on one rail. Agreed, this isn't desirable and surprises me a little, but the odds of someone pushing this power supply into that range during daily use are slim to none. And it's really not a huge deal if it did.

But in the end, you're getting a decent power supply for 30 bucks. Unbeatable.

And apparently woot is filled with perverted 18 year old kids with half-hearted attempts at jokes.

Read the reviews on NewEgg, first post PSU was DOA and second it only lasted a few months.

I'd pass on this even if I needed a new one. It's not modular, which means that ALL of the cables are plugged in ALL the time. More wires means less air flow, more dust accumulation, higher temps.
