Factory Recertified means bad news from these guys. It doesn't mean refurbished. Daily Steals has the lowest quality control for recertified products, not to mention low quality for even new products. They are rated 5.7 out of 10. They used to be rated F- on BBB, now they have no rating. Many customers have complained about their recertified items. Ridiculous company if you ask me.
weird - how can it be "7.1" if it only has two speakers and a sub?
hmm... i think someone needs to educate them about what 7.1 means.
i think i read in a PC magazine about how it has a "setup" phase that it goes thru where it emits a set of tones, and its sensors auto-calibrate based on the returns. like it "sounds out" the sound refraction characteristics of the room itself, and the tunes itself to use that to generate "surround sound". Sounds like a great idea, and i recall the review being decent as well. No idea if this helps.
hmm, only optical input, no analog inputs. the digital trends review i just read seem to indicate good bass response (for an all-in one unit), but only decent mid-range. "good enough from movies, but music suffers a bit" seems to be the gist, and yes its "simulated surround sound" from an array of smaller drivers. Maybe not quite 7.1, but at least close?
I agree with a previous poster. Purchased some refurb Logitech speakers from these guys. There was nothing to indicate my speakers were close to any kind of "refurb." The speakers were DOA. There was no original packing remaining in the box (the speakers were just loosely packed inside the box), which was torn up and taped. It basically appeared as if these things were DOA by an original purchaser somewhere, boxed up and returned, and then somehow routed to DailySteals who sold them to me. Sent several messages asking what to do, with no reply. Didn't cost enough to go any further, so I just dropped it. Never will buy from these guys again.
@healixzero: Even if they could somehow magically trick you into thinking you were hearing sounds from the sides and behind you the problem would be that there are only 2 speakers. So they are expecting each of these 2 speakers to output 3 different channels in 3 different directions at the same time. It's just not possible, and they shouldn't legally be allowed to call this 7.1 without saying "virtual 7.1"
@xzelick: uhm, no, actually as i said, i read that its "an array of speakers", as in more than 1. did you find a source that says otherwise? there may be 2 especially visible, but it does seem to have multiple speaker drivers, at multiple angles. I do agree that it should say "simulated 7.1" or "virtual surround" though.
I ordered this product from Daily Steals and they accepted the order (and my money). Then 3 days later I get an email saying my order has been cancelled, due to a “shipping problem”. No further explanation and no reply to my email back. I know they oversold the item and then screwed me out of my purchase… By the way, still waiting for the money back, I wonder how long they will hold onto my $168 dollars. These guys are terrible and will never buy from them again.
