I did a little research on this, and I'm leaning toward staying at the Origin At Seahaven. It's $76 per night * 3 days + $40 to $130 cleaning fee = $268 to $358 total. Then, this deal, Calypso Towers, is $357.00 + $40 one time damage waiver fee + resort fee (5% of $357.00 room rent = $17.85) = $414.85 total, but I'd say the extra $50 pays for the bigger pool, "free" pizza and DVD rentals.

Is it dangerous over in Panama for a young couple? I went to Jamaica with my wife last year and it was kind of ...(iffy). I want to gift it to my brother's son. What do you guys think?

@zannisvel: LOL Panama city beach is in florida. as in the united states

@martyflynn3: That doesn't really answer the question. Parts of Florida are like 3rd world countries.

I went twice in high school, and Panama City is very nice and safe. White sandy beach, and not a lot of shadiness going on. You would be fine to gift.

The shadier parts of Panama City are typically back around the bay. The strip is very nice, but all the things to do are on Thomas on the other side of Grand lagoon,, and middle beach road area.

@quizamo: When I went to Panama about a year ago, I was a little disappointed. We ate at different restaurants every day, repeatedly trying to find one that had great seafood, but never found it. The next time I go to the beach, I'm getting a room with a kitchenette and visiting one of those fresh seafood markets near the pier. People littering on the beach upset me too. It wasn't the amount of people doing it; it was the laziness and lack of respect for the environment and other vacationers like me. They have a row of trash cans on the beach for as far as the eye can see. Two guys on a tractor pulling a waste bin empty them nightly, yet some people weren't using them. Walking the strip was disappointing too. Drunk college aged kids kept yelling offensive things at my Mom so I advise going when they're still in school. There's also a couple places where you can para sail or ride a banana boat.
