@drchops: Gotta be quick! I regularly get beat to the punch by a few seconds. Lots of deal posters, only a few daily deal sites. :)

They sold these recently for $7.99 and free shipping. Getting sneaky now by saying $4.99....

@morriea: Still a great deal ($32 on Amazon), but yeah. Sneaky.

@morriea: Either you give a lot of gifts, or you really don't like changing batteries. :)

Yes, they're back again, just like a bad rash.

1saleaday keeps listing these, they can't get rid of them. Why? Because they use button cells instead of normal AAA cells.

Imagine you're in a dark room, your flashlight's getting dim, and you try to change... a bunch of button cells. Oops, dropped them on the floor. Tiny little buggers, aren't they. Impossible to find in the dark. And, if you finally find all of them, if you accidentally put one in backwards, you're SOL.

What's more, if you need to buy the batteries at a normal local retail store, you'll find they're a lot more expensive than AAA cells. (Yes, you can get really cheap ones mailorder from asia, but read the reviews... it's not unusual to get a bunch of bad ones.) And besides, button cells have much lower capacity (shorter runtime) compared to AAA cells.

So... do you want to be the sucker who helps 1saleaday get rid of these turkeys? I know I don't!

I actually hid a bunch of these in this year's multi-family Easter egg hunt. The kids LOVED them. I'll probably pick up some more for Halloween treat bags.

The last time they were sold for $7.99 and free shipping was as an item in the flash sale. The flash sale items are always free shipping and usually a few dollars cheaper than the normal sale price. If you wait you'll see them as a flash sale item again. I've seen it twice in the last week or two alone.

@crowbite: I just consider them disposable. No need for spare batteries (my 1st one has been working for 3 months so far). At less than a buck each, why get extra batteries?

I picked these up the last time they were on 1Saleaday and paid 5 more dollars for shipping. Regardless they're a great buy. They're shockingly bright for the size/LR41 batteries they take. No on/off switch, just twist the cap which can be a bit worrisome since it has to be loose to be turned off. Dealextreme sells a 100 count of the LR41 batteries for about 4 bucks shipped. Small enough and cheap enough to toss on a keychain or the girlfriends/wives purse strap and not feel too bummed if you lose one.
