Warning, MHL has only a limited support, unless you know your phone supports it - do not get this. Here is some list of phones that support MHL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-definition_Link#Mobile_devices

Will this charge the phone? Seems like streaming video would run it down quickly.

I know my Galaxy S2 supports MHL, but I had bad luck with the last adaptor I got. It caused some nasty screen tearing and whenever I wiggled it the connection broke, pausing video playback. Really hoping it's not just my phone, but I might splurge for the more expensive adaptor as a result of this misfortune.

@johnt007871: It will charge your phone, you have to plug the adaptor itself into a charger, and then plug the adaptor into your phone. That is why there is a micro usb input on the side.

What am I missing here? I have had my Droid for over 2 years now and it came with a cable that hooks up to my TV's HDMI inlet. Is this something else?

@drhardcrab: MHL is only needed for certain phones/devices. You're lucky that yours doesn't require MHL.
