shipping/handling ended up at $14.95 to IL. still an awesome steal for this. thanks for posting!

worth noting for Mother's Day gifts: "Normal time frame to get your order is 9 business days (give or take a few days, depending on your location)."

other good info about the process: "The Process: Your order has been received. We just sent it to our technicians to make sure your photo is right for tranferring to a canvas. If there is an issue, we'll let you know via email. Once your photo is approved, our technicians will work to put it on canvas. If you chose an art technique, it will take an extra day or 2 to get your photo ready for production. Once all is good, our artist will carefully transfer your photo to canvas. Once that is done, we coat it with a UV protectant and let it sit for a day to dry. Then, we delicately place it in a box or nice bubble wrap envelope for delivery to your door."

Caution: I ordered one with the automatically applied promotional discount, then attempted to purchase another in a separate order, hoping the promo would still be usable. As soon as I entered payment info on the second purchase (and before I could even try the promo code) the website site thanked me for my order, which is apparently at the full price of approximately $50.

I left a message asking the company to cancel this order or to hold production until I can talk with them tomorrow. At the moment, I'm very unhappy that their order page gave me no opportunity to review my order, to apply a promo code, or to do a final acceptance and authorization of the purchase.

BEWARE!

I "took advantage" of this offer two weeks ago and, in all honesty, what I received from them was truly a beautiful canvas--clear and well mounted.

It is just too bad the canvas was of two people I have never met and a picture I never took or sent in!

Try calling the company and their customer service line is "message only". Try going to the operator and you end up with no one ever answering.

I am close to calling my credit card company and letting them deal with these folks.

@magic cave: We apologize for any inconvenience. We will be contacting you shortly to help you resolve this issue. Thank you for your patience.

@dslocum:
I am very sorry to hear of this mix-up. Please email our customer service at support@canvaspeople.com and I will personally make sure this is taken care of. We will make this right I assure you.

We work very hard to keep all of our customers happy and I apologize again for the issue.

Does any one know if they are able to adjust the centering of the picture - I wanted to get one of these but it seems that no matter what picture I upload the wrong parts get cropped so that it can be wrapped around the frame. Thanks!

Got in on the last deal and literally just opened the box; even came a day earlier than projected. Image quality looks great, maybe a little warmer than the original image. (The touch-up service, perhaps?)

A little disappointed with the lumpiness of the stretching/folding around the sides. I don't think this is something I could display without framing it at this point; not that I could do better myself, heh. But hey, $15 is a cheapish way to learn.

Edit: Just in case this is a case of misplaced expectations on my part, as it was my first canvas print, here's an image of the top edge: http://img199.imageshack.us/i/canvashh.jpg/

Ordered w/ the last special & got an email confirming & nothing else since!

FOLLOW-UP TO MY EARLIER CAUTION: A customer service person called me in early afternoon, asked a few questions (to be sure she understood the siuation correctly?), and assured me they would be happy to cancel my second order. (The first item I ordered is a keeper.)

I don't know how they handle routine customer service queries, since I was unable to find a way to reach them by phone other than by leaving a message, but they were pretty prompt in getting back to me. The woman with whom I spoke was pleasant, cordial, efficient, and reassuring, and at this point my only unhappiness is with the ordering system that skipped from obtaining my credit card information directly to "completing" my order without asking me to review and authorize the final details.

@dslocum: Don't jump the gun on this. Under most circumstances, your credit card issuer will require that you make an effort to contact the merchant to resolve a problem and that you give the merchant adequate time to respond. Since it's been seven hours you posted, I suspect you've already heard from their customer service staff and that your issues are now being handled to your satisfaction.

Under law you have 60 days from the day you receive your credit card billing statement to dispute a charge, and my personal and professional experience is that most merchants really want customers to be satisfied. This company has a reasonable return policy, so at this point I'm comfortable with how my own situation is being handled. I hope yours is working out well, also.

@gatzby: If that were my purchase (not that I'm any more experienced than you are with this product or company) I'd get back in touch with them and request a replacement. That's a lousy stretching job.

@magic cave: Heh, I'm torn -- it's probably not worth the frustration or potential shipping costs for me to argue it, but at the same time, it's pretty much going to get thrown away. (Unless it can be recycled?) But hey, I'm the kind of person that won't send meals back either.

Though I'm willing to hear if @canvaspeople has any recommendation.

I just received my order from a similar offer about two weeks ago and it looks great! Quick delivery and am very happy with the results. I upgraded to 11x14 from the free 8x11, so spent a little more. Like it enough that I am going to order another.

This company does a fantastic job but watch your email for good deals. I ordered 3 16x16 canvases at $29 each with FREE shipping. That's a great deal! When that deal comes up again, I'm ordering 7 more! The pics are ready to go my finger poised on the button...

@gatzby: I'm thinking that since they're virtually giving away the 8x10 item, it may be easiest for them just to send you a new one without your having to return the unsatisfactory one first. (I've had several instances over the years in which the merchant response was that I should just toss or keep the "bad" item and they would just send a new out to me.)

I think it's well worth talking to them about it, especially since you can show them a image or two of the problem.

@canvaspeople: I HAVE...TWICE!

Perhaps instead of replying here, you email me or call me as I have left all of the information on your phone service.

In fact, let me make it even easier: my order number is 118862...I await your contact.

Please make this right.

@magic cave: Thank you for your post but 10 hours later and I have heard NOTHING for Canvas People. I called them repeatedly, never does a person answer the phone no matter what extension you call (including operator), I have left my phone number and email and NOTHING.

At this point, I could write it off to a mistake, hey they happen, but their inability to make any contact with me is bothersome and moving it past a mistake.

This is a great deal. I've never ordered from them before (nor did I know they existed), but I just ordered one. I'm waiting for my sister to choose a photo, and will be ordering a second one tomorrow with her face instead of mine.

Is it bad that my entire goal on Mother's Day is to make my mother cry?

I got one last time...i thought it was good!

@dslocum: Thank you for providing your order number. We will be in touch with you shortly to rectify the situation. Please remember we have no way of retrieving your email address from woot, so again, thank you for providing your order number. We are dedicated to our customers and will be sure to make this right.

@sethatcanvaspeople:

I understand that, which is why I left my email and order number on 2 different locations on your voice mail yesterday...and still have yet to hear from you folks by email or phone. Since you have my email from the order I place (and have already sent me emails about my oder and FREQUENT ads), please don't make the claim that you don't have my email address.

Please make it right.

@dslocum: I am sure mistakes happen, but I have ordered 3 canvass and have continued to have great canvass..
Give them a chance.

I have 2 canvases from them...1 was the free 8x10 and the other was a 18x24 for $37 with free shipping through tippor. Looking for that deal again! The quality is great!
