Imation Disc Stakka CD/DVD Manager: Automated Carousel for 100 CDs or DVDs for $42.99 + shipping
For when just putting them back on the spindle isn’t classy enough.
I can just see this thing breaking and suddenly having 100 discs trapped forever.
nothingbutsoftware.com - a little ironic here? Selling a CD carousel?
This seems like a great idea at a great price point, but some of the reviews on Amazon are brutal. A competing product (Centurion CD) seems to have simalarly negative reviews, costs more, and is generally unavailable. Apparently lots of folks find this product works great and then just suddenly QUITS! I'm still tempted to try the Imation at this price. Any Wooter experience?
Dad, what's a cd?
@zipeater: Well, junior, let me tell you about a little thing called a Wii.
If the technology is this cheap for a carousel, why can't they sell a 100 disc juke box for $100? That would get my interest.
As kids are wont to leave DVDs lying around after use, this would be great! FYI, Amazon reviews aren't that great but Google Market reviews are pretty good.
@marcoselmalo: With some string and some duct tape you could just strap this to the front of an auto-load cd player and make one yourself!
I have 6 of these. They are JUNK and unreliable!
@dossetttj: Sooo...why did you buy 6?
bought them at the same time for work
These were neat in like 1998
thanks was considering but definatley not now!
I have three of these but in the Centurion brand. They are awesome for keeping the discs safe and organized. The only thing is the time to put them all into the Library.

There are YouTube videos on how to repair/rebuild/modify these.
I consider myself a tinkerer, so I'll pick up one or two knowing that issues can be dealt with.

Wait. What?
This thing doesn't actually play the CD\DVDs? It just ejects them so you can take it out and place it into a real CD\DVD player? Just sounds like a problem waiting to happen. Use a $15 binder to hold your DVDs and don't worry about that breaking.
How hard would it have been to allow you to access your CD\DVD when you search and find the right one, instead of ejecting it? This is a failure.
CD's and DVD's? What are those?
@theduker: Perhaps you prefer a binder. In fact I do too. Kids don't put their DVDs away, though. This might entice them.
Despite some negative comments and reviews, I went ahead and purchased 3. It looks like it will fill a need I have, and as a tinkerer I figure I can fix 'em with the help of the repair videos. Wish me luck.
Used to have these at the one place I worked. I have a love-hate relationship with them. They're pretty cool, and it's more efficient than searching through spindles or binders of CDs, sure.
The problem comes in when you drop one or lose the configuration file. The CDs aren't held in by much of anything, dropping it means half of them get all messed up and you're probably going to do them all again.
