I've been looking to get this laptop since it was announced in early January, but I'm looking to bump up the specs a bit. Last time I priced it out with the specs I wanted, it came up to about $1800, but that was with the 3 year accidental damage protection warranty.

Still looking to get it, but I want to see if I can get a bigger discount... maybe see if HP offers military or student discounts (seeing as how I'm both).

From what I've seen and read though, this laptop is the bee's knees. Will be awesome for college as a med student.

Well, it looks like when you start to put it together, you get 200 bucks off at the beginning, and then you can still get 5%. That'd still save you about a hundred bucks on top of the 200 already. I have been looking around for potentially replacing my old tablet and this one looks pretty good, so that's why I figured I could chime in. If I had $1400 lying around I think I'd get this pretty quickly.

@roxtarryan: They do have military discount but I think you have to call them to do it. Iit's something they do to your account. Whenever I sign in now I'm always looking at the employee purchasing program under U.S. Army (and I've been out for about 7 months).

I have an older HP convert-a-tab that's on the fritz. Have it open to blow it out, but it doesn't look good. I can put it back together and ship it off, pay a couple hundred to get old hardware back, or bite the bullet for a newer model.... decisions, decisions...
