RCA = stay away.
Easy to remember because it rhymes.

They may be poop but you won't find anything for this quality this cheap. If I didn't already have a system that kicked this ones ass I might have considered it for my spare entertainment center

Bought this through Wal Mart.com. TV screen will be delivered shattered. When you return it, the store will say they can't because they are separate of wal mart.com. Then you'll have to talk to a supervisor they will take the TV back but it isn't sold in the store only online. So you want another one...tough...it is out of stock at walmart.com for you when you call... Just played this game!!!! Funny thing they must be back in stock or they just got my broken one back and are going to ship it to you... THIS IS A SCAM... hope you learn from me...go somewhere like Best Buy or Costco or actually anywhere with decnt customer service... STEAR CLEAR OF THIS!!!!!

I have an RCA sound system that I picked up about 5 years ago at Walmart for ~$150. It is not high def. quality sound, but has been sufficient for my needs in my large living room. When I lived in an apartment, the bass was loud enough that even when it was not turned all the way up the neighboring tenant would pound on the wall and yell at me to turn it down. I also used my system at my new house to play music at a party outside. I just opened up the windows and cranked it up full volume. The party was about 30 yards away in my yard, but it was plenty loud enough to hear it well. I am not willing to vouch for the quality of this piece... But if you are looking to save money, and you are not a sound quality snob, you may not be able to tell the difference between this and something for $500 more. $478 is not an outrageous price for a 42" High def TV. You are kinda getting the sound system and DVD player for free. However, I would immediately chuck the DVD and get a BluRay or PS3.

I would say pretty good bedroom system.

vote-for1vote-against

I agree with @japple650 this would be a good bedroom system or maybe something for a teenager - - - they're probably gonna break it anyway - I know I would have when I was a teenager...

I don't know about a lot of comments I'm reading but I can't afford $500 for a teenager or a guest room. As far as I'm concerned, kids and guests can just deal with the one I spent $25 at a yard sale. If I'm going to spend hundreds or even thousands on a t.v., its going to be for me. And I'll never buy RCA.

is it me or is the 42" advertisement false... it says to choose from 42" or 37". But in the options below, it only shows a 37"

Yeah, they're out of the 42" plasma now it seems. You have to choose the 37" LCD.

Note that this display is 720p. At this size, I wouldn't settle for anything less than 1080p, but to each their own.

@ringo4: I've purchased a few TV's through Walmart.com and had no trouble with damaged shipments, or in store returning (except it took about an hour) They seem get good deals on older models tv's.
