This movie has a wonderful soundtrack.
Way underrated.

How this movie got Best Animated Picture over Cars, I'll never know. They didn't even bother to animate the humans, either, just used real video footage.

Way overrated.

@skunkmonkey: because realistic animation is viewed more favorably than cartoon animation?

@j5: Realistic animation reflects little room for innovation and imagination. Cartooning opens the door to a huge range of ideas, images, style and personality that realistic animation simply can't match.

Also, when you're not actually animating chunks of your movie, but using real video, it's not really animation, anymore.

@skunkmonkey: I don't disagree with you, but then I'm not the Academy, and as I tend to remind everyone when it comes up, they gave E.T. the best special effects nod over BladeRunner, so I hold them in very low regard when it comes to, well everything.

@j5: Happy Feet won it because it was "green" instead of being about cars, which apparently even in cartoon form, somehow manage to "kill the environment."

I wholeheartedly agree with you that Blade Runner should have won that Oscar, though. That was highway robbery.

@skunkmonkey: ... Because Cars and Cars 2 are Pixar's worst to date. Everything else is amazing, but those two.... Rotten apples

@sasdragon: I'll agree with you on Cars 2, but Cars was a brilliant realization of Bill Peet's anthropmorphized autmomobiles, with a fun story, excellent animation and subtle charm.

A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo were crap, though, and while I'd like to say that Wall-E was a cinematic masterpiece, I've seen Charlie Chaplin films before.
