This is Micheal Mann at his best. This was a TV show that had to fail it was just to damn good. I think Micheal Mann got to make this show because he had done 5 years of Miami Vice.

It takes itself very seriously until season 2 where it gets a bit wacky and fun. The mob guy takes over a country etc,etc.

The young mob guys, right hand man "Paulie" was an actual thief. Even though he had money he went back into the safe cracking life and got caught. In the movie "Thief" with James Caan, Tuesday Weld (Micheal Manns first film) "Paulie" plays the second police man in command who follows Cain's character all the way to Iowa. FYI
