I bought this once awhile back, and it was disappointing to say the least.
First of all, it's damn near impossible to cock the thing. I know that is pretty much just how it goes with crossbows, but it still deserves to be said. Secondly, it's super cheaply made. There are other problems too, but these stuck out and made the thing a waste of money for me.

I used to buy a lot from BudK. Was always very happy with their products/prices.

@expickwickmoose: I'm glad it's not just me, I can't cock it either. It took 2 guys to get it. I fired it once and never bothered again.

Sorry I don't know what you guys are talking about. My 12 twelve year old brother can cock these things. Don't use that metal thing though, just grab the string and pull back with your thumbs on the back. After tweaking the aim a bit like the show you on the box it's pretty accurate too. I was impressed.

Ok, im 16, 6'2" and 140 lbs. Im really skinny and dont have much muscle but can cock this with ease. u girls suck

vote-for1vote-against

I bought one of these a couple years ago. Dang near impossible to cock, the trigger pull must have been something like 20 lbs, and mine completely fell apart in my hands on the third shot. I wouldn't give 50 cents for one. I would almost dare to say one of these are unsafe for the person operating it.

I do not need a cross bow of any kind although if I did I would surly go to BUD K. I have made many purchases from BUD K and not only do they have excellent products for the money, if there is ever a problem they take care of it immediately. Remember the tried and true saying "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" You do not get a $100.00 item for $1.00 any where you go!

vote-for10vote-against

how much is Bud K paying for endorsements? I need some extra Christmas money.

vote-for1vote-against

I had one of this exact model at 14, pretty easy to cock if you know the trick. Put it behind your leg and pull lever up, super simple.

vote-for20vote-against

@journeyloaded: So you're saying that it took you and two guys just to get one cock?

vote-for0vote-against

You buy from Budk, you better pray you didn't get the defective sales.

@vanguard225: Everybody needs a cross bow. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, you're gonna want something that can kill the undead without making a lot of noise that will attract more. Worth paying $10 to plan ahead.

vote-for2vote-against

This sold me. I am in for 3.

This won't kill a zombie. This might fatally injure a human, but forget about splattering rotting brains. To be fair, in the event of a disaster, zombie-related or otherwise, this might be good for hunting small gmae.

I've got one of these. The accuracy is atrocious, and as stated, it's easier to pull the string with your hands than the pull-thingy. Poor design - the puller tends to bind and stick when pulling the string. Oil helps, but not enough, as it's due to the angle the string is applying force to.

@teenwootlover: You're showing not only your age but your immaturity. Please avoid crude sexist comments.

vote-for2vote-against

I bought one of these last time around that they were on sale. Yeah its a $15 crossbow after everything is shipped, but its good for some quick entertainment and is strong enough to make the bolts get stuck in my fence without them bouncing back. I wouldn't buy this for any hunting purposes, just for a few shots when you get bored here and there.

Are people copying and pasting their comments from a previous discussion on this same item? I swear I'm getting Deja Vu after reading these comments.

vote-for1vote-against

I bought one of these a while back, the plastic parts attaching the string to the bow shattered when I shot it. I had to make parts out of metal washers.
Also, after a couple hundred shots, the string wore though where it contacted the middle of the bow..
Otherwise, A great deal for the price.

Given the recent crossbow murder in the news, it seems to push the boundaries of taste to advertise this with "Federally-mandated waiting period got you down?" See: http://www.thestar.com/news/article/901620--son-charged-in-father-s-crossbow-slaying?bn=1

@gjbloom:
Oh that's being a little overly sensitive, isn't it?

vote-for1vote-against

Looks like the same one Claire Redfield uses in Resident Evil: Code Veronica to kill zombies;) lol

Got one + extra bolts + extra string. Flying Woot monkeys, beware!!!

@expickwickmoose: agreed. it roke for me on third day

@expickwickmoose & @journeyloaded: What did you two expect for $10.00?

People buy cheap sh*t & then complain about it because it doesn't work properly, it's cheaply made, etc...

Start buying nice stuff & you won't have these problems...

Crossbow pistol? Check.
Prince of Persia Limited Edition Mini Film Cell? Check.

Thanks, BudK!

@kevskoolkars: Very true, but it is still worth saying that for $15, I expect to at least shoot the damn thing.

vote-for1vote-against

Ummm, am I missing the addon for the explosive tips?

vote-for1vote-against

federally mandated wating period? not in texas!

vote-for1vote-against

@kevskoolkars: I didn't expect much and frankly I'm not even complaining, just giving an FYI that it's tough to cock and I personally can't do it. I do think it's a cool thing to have for $10.

vote-for1vote-against

@foxxridergt: oh Texas, if only California had your gun laws and death penalty , I'd be a much happier person.

vote-for1vote-against

I just bought 2 of them I have read the reviews here and off there web site also. ill be completely happy with it if it at least holds up for a few days of shooting. But at the same time like stated above its 10$ if it breaks it breaks not like im buying a 100$ model

@magic cave Hey I wasn't being sexist I was just insulting these trolls, besides the fact I just decided to have my little 8yo sister try to cock it and she got it, it took her a bit but if a 8yo can than any one over 13 should be able to cock it. Cmon a 50lb pull is 10lbs less than she weighs. The only real pain i had was trying to string it by myself even though the instructions said to get a friend to help, 2 swats by the metal arm to the leg before i got the string attached.
A warning tho is that the string will fray in the middle of the exposed string that is not over wrapped with a second spiral layer after about a week of heavy use. And I guarantee you will not be able to keep track of the 3 included arrows and keep the tips on the plastic for long so I recommend that you guy the aluminum bodied arrows.
