if you don't want to deal with walmart, Amazon has this for $40.99

Planet Earth is one of the best things I've seen on television in a good, long time. This price is about as good as you can get. I received the HD-DVD version as a gift before the standards war was over (whoops!), so it's about time to go with the winning side.

I picked up the British version for about $40 off amazon.co.uk, which is region free and works wonderfully in my player. The narrator is different (I forgot the man's name but he is definitely not Sigourney Weaver)and there is an additional disc on that set with 2 episodes of another nature documentary specific to animals. If these features sound better, you should check it out over there! Here's the link:

EXCELLENT FOOTAGE! Simply AMAZING. Watched all the DVD's ($79) in two days and the camera work is better than ANYTHING I have ever seen on any television series (Discovery, Animal Planet, NatGeo, etc.)

vote-for1vote-against

wow. i paid $100.00 for this. pretty good deal if you ask me.

vote-for1vote-against

Follow the Amazon link to get it for ~$12 shipped in HD DVD format. Seriously. Glad I got that combo Blu-Ray/HDDVD capable computer from Woot.

Bought it on Discovery Channel website yesterday for $24.99.

The $25 one on Discovery.com is the Sigourney Weaver narration, and there seemed to be some indication that it was a 1080i transfer. This one appears to be the BBC version, which has David Attenborourgh narrating and is supposed to be 1080p for all the main episodes. Personally I'd spend the extra to get the BBC narration alone, but definitely if the 1080i/1080p thing is true.

BTW Costco has the BBC version for $36.99 :)

Heh, heh, fire bad.
