Why does this get a bunch of negatives?

vote-for0vote-against

@superninja: Perhaps it is because this doesn't appear to have any advantage over simply lying on the floor with a firm pillow under your back.

vote-for19vote-against

I own one of these and it works great for stretching the back. I don't understand all the negative votes either. It's superior for restoring the natural curve to the spine. People that sit all day or who have repetative physical jobs, can lie on this for three minutes and get a good stretch but you have to be careful.

Shipping really puts a damper on this deal for me. The site states:

STANDARD US POST OFFICE - 8 TO 18 DAYS $6.62
PRIORITY MAIL (USPS)- 4 TO 8 DAYS $11.71
UPS - 3 TO 8 BUSINESS DAYS (48 U.S. STATES ONLY) $11.85

Up to 18 days for standard shipping really??? No thanks, I'll just buy in at Amazon for $17.50 with free two day shipping - http://www.amazon.com/North-American-Healthcare-JB4866-Stretcher/dp/B001G6ZRF0/ref=pd_sbs_hpc_2

@burtburt: shipping wasn't that high for me

vote-for4vote-against

@burtburt: it depends on where you live... but the shipping days are just estimates. Most people get them faster. And I'm guessing you're a prime member at Amazon that's why you get the free 2-day shpipping.

@superninja: Hi.. I would like to know too... this item has been a longtime item for us that generates excellent feedback

vote-for-12vote-against

@pulsetv: Isn't everyone a Prime member?? ;)

vote-for-7vote-against

@jeefray: I didn't down-vote but, if I did, it would be because there are things I have around the house such as pillows or cushions that I could use for this purpose.

vote-for7vote-against

+1 for the shipping estimator! All I had to do was enter in my zip.

vote-for9vote-against

i don't understand all the down votes on this item. I have a similar one from another manufacturer, and using it for a few minutes a day has really helped my constant low-level lower back pain.

vote-for12vote-against

@drhardcrab: Only if you were to lay your mac across it and then jump on it so that one foot lands on each side of your mac screen thus breaking it in half.

Your mac would be fully stretched out and at least one person here would be happy. Oh, video please or it didn't happen.

Anyone who says you could just as easily use a "firm pillow" is not the target audience. Even the firmest pillow will not hold it's shape under your body weight, and if it did you would have to roll it so horribly that it would put direct pressure on a single vertabrae. I am 30yrs old with 2 bulging discs. I have a comparable product to this one and it has been a godsend, relieved back pain, and helped me recover my flexibility. There is no pillow in the world that would be as firm and shaped correctly.

Screw the haters... In for one!

vote-for6vote-against

@jeefray: Yeah my coworkers totally aren't going to make fun of me when I lay down on this thing in the middle of the office!

vote-for10vote-against

Very often, whatever is the bottom deal just gets downvoted by people without even looking at it. Has nothing to do with the deal or the site, just people finding it funny to downvote whatever is last.

Ditto what minion 1021 said... pillows can't do what this thing does. If a pillow works for you, great, but this thing goes way beyond that.

I don't know about putting the correct curve back in your spine, but it does a great job at stretching your back. It may take a week or two before a bad back can tolerate this, but it'll get there and you'll be glad you own one.

vote-for-2vote-against

Whatever this thing is, it certainly looks like something ahem to be enjoyed in the comfort and PRIVACY of your own home.

...gross.

vote-for3vote-against

@burtburt: Mine was a little less but still cheaper for me to buy it on amazon, I guess we don't live in the areas this would be a "deal"

vote-for6vote-against

If your back doesn't ever hurt from sitting or anything for that matter then this product isn't for you and you shouldn't be down grading it. From the picture it looks nice, the cut out is so it doesn't put direct pressure on your vertebrae and it should be shaped for the curve of the spine. I doubt anything lying around the house can come close to matching this.

So if your back hurts more than once in a while give something like this a try, shipping was less that $6 for me.

As a veteran of 3 back surgeries, I can tell you that this is worthless. Might make you feel better for a little while, but you'd be far better off going on the net and getting some floor exercises which stretch your hams and strengthen your core. I would also be afraid of negative effects after a period of time on this.

O wait... Back STRETCHER. Sorry.
