I actually tried to buy a few of these.. and found out I can't, even through Paypal.

Seems I can order from places in the UK, Germany, Spain, Japan, China, etc.. but not wherever this place is located. Which is a shame really, as I want some of their deals.

Just purchased (in US). Looking forward to replaying many of these.

GOG's billing is in Cyprus, which some banks do not like as they have scammers apparently.
I always have to call my bank to allow my account to be used there when there is a GOG sale.
I forgot to call yesterday so I'm stuck waiting until Monday to buy the rest of the pack (already have it all except Neverwinter 2).
Awesome bunch of games that will keep you entertained for hours! Not to mention mods and other things that could add to them.

Tempting but buying software from other countries is risky with legal issues and even with the savings what's to say that the software will work , if it doesn't is there a recourse.

I've had great luck ordering from GOG. I particularly like that I can launch titles without booting up DOSBOX first.

@joshjosh667: Aha. Guess I will be calling my bank in the morning.

@mybestuser1: GOG has a good reputation around the Internet. People around Woot and Steam often talk about checking there for availability and pricing on older games before buying from other sources.

A few months back I ordered Descent 1&2, Redneck Rampage, and a few games from the Ultima series from them. I've only gotten around to playing a few of the games but had no issues with billing, downloading, or playing on Windows 7. These were games from the old Win XP, 95, and DOS eras.

Cyprus, as in the one that's trying to nationalize everyone's assets? Bet that address is gonna change soon...

I've bought a number of things from GOG, it's a good company and one of the few that takes consumer rights seriously. Ironic that a Polish media conglomerate could teach the Americans a few things about freedom, but then again Poles have a lot of firsthand experience being the plaything of wealthy feudalists who treat the small people like dirt so they take this sort of thing pretty seriously.

Oh, and as far as getting the games to work, you should be fine unless the description has a disclaimer that it's not compatible with some verisons of Windows. You might run into this with some of the really old stuff that was originally made for DOS...it's my understanding they've developed some technology to easily port DOS games to 32 and 64 bit Windows but I haven't bought any of the DOS games so I can't comment there.

@mybestuser1: I wasn't trying to dispute whether their operations run out of Cyprus. I was just pointing out that a lot of people on the Internet have had a good experience with them and have been happy with their purchases.

If you still want to avoid them, that's fine. I was just offering additional information.

@bogus: I have purchased some of their older DOS based games (Wing Commander series, to be more specific), and they run fine, albeit a little fast, and the graphics definitely haven't aged well, but then, there's nothing like doing an afterburner slide at 450kps to send rounds down range at some Kilrathi, right?

There's a way to fix the speed though, and I found it somewhere in the wilds of the intarwebs. I'll see if I can track it down for you.

My experience with GOG has been fantastic. I've purchased about 25 games from them without a hitch. At this price, there's no reason not to get this awesome collection, especially since they're DRM-free. The community is very supportive and can help you with any mods or technical problems you might have.
