it says they email you the gift card, so you just print and take into the store? like a groupon or something?
is this legit? they have some good deals listed...

The Starbucks ones get mailed to you. Not sure about the rest. You pay via paypal so I thought that was secure enough to try it. They have a limited number of cards for sale so you can't get every deal listed. I'm not sure how many are up for grabs but they sell another one every ten minutes. Like I said, I got two his morning. That was out of maybe 5 or 6 tries.

@aching4bacon: OH! i think i see what you mean. i was wondering why you implied that you can't always just get the item being sold. one specific person will get the deal when it's being offered!

for example, right now there's a $20 cheesecake factory gift card being sold for $10. but it also says "There will be one available to responder #27". so the 27th person attempting to buy this will get the special price. the others get nothing i assume, and just can't buy.
interesting...

Yes that is how it works. Sorry for the confusion. I'm still trying to figure it out myself, but I think some offers have more than one available. Also, I think some offers are only available If you download the app. The app is available for iPhones too. And the app makes It super easy. I'm just sitting in class so I just open it every ten minutes and click I want that deal. You don't actually have to say anything. It's a welcomed money saving distraction from class. Once class ends I plan on using my Starbucks gift card to buy a coffee to help me stay awake to get deals in my next class. Good luck buying!

@aching4bacon: Were you able to get any more than 2 deals? I got two pretty quick when I signed up, then I wasn't able to snag even one single thing more after that, even though I was trying all through the rest of the workday. I just thought it was a big coincidence that you said you got two also. I didn't find any details about a limit to how many deals you could get, so I'm hesitating to put in my Paypal info to actually buy the cards... :/ Seems rigged.

@charliebravo: the same thing happened to me, I got two in the morning and then none the rest of the day, bit then I turned my sound on and every time I bid on a starbucks gift card a voice said that you fan only win 2 starbucks gift cards every 72 hours. The voice also tells you which number you are and which number you need to be the winner. You also only have 24 hours to pay via paypal. I paid for both of mine. I thinks it seems legit. I'll let you know if I win any more or if the cards never come In the mail

@aching4bacon: Hmm, okay. That's good to know about the helpful voice! The Starbucks cards I got say they'll be emailed to me, so maybe I'll go ahead and try it and see if they show up there. The fact that it goes through PayPal is reassuring.

On my iPhone it's showing a 'friends club' deal where if I invite 5 friends I can be in the 'friends club' and get deals like a $25 gas card for Shell for $5. That sounds pretty complex, since it wants me to SMS them the deal link.

@aching4bacon: well, thanks to share the good voice.
But I can't buy it. I don't know why. Is there some button to press for purchasing?

has anyone received one of these deals?

this seems like a scam version of groupon... you have to sign up for a ton of notifications, then log on or listen to the "deal"...and then like ONE person gets the deal. it's like an entry into a lottery for the deal, you are not at all guaranteed to even get it if you want it/try to get it.

For example, come 5AM there will be "$10 Old Navy Card, Pay $5 to get $10 Old Navy card"...which sounds great, but read on "There will be one available to responder #30".

It's not a complete fraud, but i'm not sure crossing groupon with radio call-in type sweepstakes is that great of a deal.

Good deal. Would be in for one if I frequented Starbucks. And decided to figure out their website.

vote-for2vote-against

Seems like alot of work for probably nothing.

Then there's the issue of how they are making money.

vote-for3vote-against

This is a game of chance, not a deal.

Logged on my email this morning and I have a certificate to print out from Starbucks saying that "SpeakAndSave wanted to make my day" and sent me a $5 gift card. :) I can either print it out or transfer it to a registered Starbucks card.

I think the site is legit but one thing I realized is unless you hit menu exit on you phone, the app keeps running and keeps listening for voice commands. I am not suggesting that they are recording my conversations or anything, but I still don't like the idea of an app having the ability to hear what I am saying when I'm not using it. I discovered this by leaving the volume on and switching to another app without exiting his one. I heard a voice notify me when he next deal was available. It told me what to say to get the deal. I said he voice command and it went through even though I wasn't using the app.

@aching4bacon: I looked up the company, and it looks like they specialize in voice-recognition stuff. They have another app that you leave running like that while you're driving so you can give it voice commands to text, so maybe that's supposed to be a similar feature of this one?

this is lame. a few seconds after a "deal is on" it is sold out. there's probably just a handful of them at a time. very lame.

Wow, $2 for $5 @ Starbucks? Now I can get my burnt coffee at slightly higher than real-world prices, as opposed to outrageously high prices. Thanks, but I'll make coffee at home for 1/10th the price.

So far, in the last 2 days, I have won 2 of these gift card deals, and a separate one for Williams Sonoma! I just answered my phone when it beeped. Simple!

MOST OF THESE DEALS REQUIRE ANDROID OR IPHONE TO USE - NOT A DEAL IF YOU ACTUALLY WORK FOR A LIVING AND CAN'T STAND BY YOUR CELL PHONE ALL DAY.

GUESSING THERE IS A GREAT GREY MARKET FOR PEOPLE THAT WIN ENOUGH OF THESE CARDS AND THEN RESELL THEM ON EBAY.

We need to get you a deal on some lower case letters.

I just use the Speak and Save between 2pm and 3pm every day (PT) and always get at least one great deal. Although, I have yet to get the gas card. I find it fun. I can tell you it is not a scam. I have gotten Best Buy gift cards, starbucks, and amazon gift cards. I have used them all without any difficulty.
