@remoteoz: a joke. I have been around long enough to know that sponsored deals take precedence. I also thought the deal on the dock might be helpful information for people interested in the tablet. Together it a heck of a combo and a great deal.

Thanks for the "get a life" suggestion.

Horrible customer service at Ben's outlet. Ordered Toshiba thrive recently. Refurbished just like these. had to send back because they do not test product before it ships. Still had diagnostic programs on tablet and Google play store not loaded. Their fault for sending an untested product and they stick you for the return shipping to get your refund or replacement. I understand if it goes out after a few days after working efficiently, but this was completely not even done with testing and was shipped with display issues as well. I'm sure its 1 out of every 100 that gets my outcome, maybe less. I hope your not the one but a company that leaves the trial and error of product to the customer is shady in my book. Especially when it arrives in this not even refurbished shape and Ben's outlet refuses to take ownership of the error.

I've had my Prime for about a year now and I love it. Great tablet - even better when paired with the dock (I have the T700 dock - helps with the balance). If you're looking for an Android tablet, I give my full endorsement and would recommend it to a friend or even an enemy.

Just picked up the eee Slider (with keyboard built-in underneath but otherwise the same) and I have to say, the screen is AMAZING! The colors and contrast are beautiful.

@offline999: The screen on this one is actually MUCH better with the IPS+ option. AMAZING!

@atomicorange: Have they fixed the (alleged) problems with the wifi and gps locks?

I bought this for my wife last year for Christmas, well when it was released, and she loves it. I wanted to get her an iPad but she said she didn't want a larger iPhone. This thing works great and has come in handy many times. I only wish I could add a data plan to it. Planning on getting her a dock for it this year.

Okay - in for one, plus the keyboard. Maybe I can roll my TF101 on ebay for close to the cost :)

Fair warning: They don't let you ship to an address different from billing. POO.

@rrussell: I'm not familiar with the problems. My wifi seems to work fine, though i'll get some connection drops from time to time, but far less than I did with Apple products on my home network. (I suspect it's a home network issue).

As for GPS, I've never really used the GPS functions that much - but I've been able to use Google Maps for basic functionality.

@morriea: Ahhh...good to know, thanks. Almost hard to believe it could get better...

@rrussell: Yes the problems were mainly just for the original TF101. After the riots of that model, they learned their lesson and this one is great. It does have a hard plastic back so that may be the way they fixed it vs the aluminum/metal material of the older models but it still does feel sturdy.

I personally own this one without the IPS display and its a great tablet and wifi along with GPS work without a hitch. Used the GPS on a EU trip and was very pleased with it!

As for Bens outlet, I have no idea how they are. I do know that the 16gb version(with IPS display I believe) was on sale on Black Friday brand new for 280 at BestBuy. I don't know if that means the price of these is dropping or what but I think it would be something to look out for this holiday season. This does have a slot for a micro sd card so I don't think that there is anything to worry about when it comes to the internal storage of the device.

@outer78: This is the Prime. It has the metal back and the reported GPS and WiFi issues (a dongle will fix it and are available, Asus was giving them away to owners at one point). The TF101 was the 1st one and also had a plastic back and no issues. The similar, plastic back one is the TF300. It came out a bit afterward and had basically the same specs (no IPS+ or camera flash). Woot just had it (16GB) with dock at $300.00 (great deal also).

Here is the link to expired deal for a dongle (just to show what it is).

@rrussell: Update.

Well, I emailed them about lack of a shipping address, and they replied that they don't split it out - you ship to where you bill to.

And, incidentally, "for my protection," could I please send them a scan of my credit card and photo ID to make sure I wasn't ripping me off.

I gotta admit, THAT is a first. Sheesh.

This tablet is so last month.

vote-for2vote-against

@morriea: Yikes. I have no idea where I got that it was a TF300. I am really sorry for misinforming people of what I said.

Terrible mistake on my part! :(

I do agree that this is the one with the problems. This issues are present for this model. Everything I said in the previous post is for a different model!

@michael2255: Wrong about last month!

The TF300 16GB was just offered at Groupon Goods for $269 and at Best Buy for $279. That is the model with no GPS or WIFI issues. I would hold out for a deal like that again before buying either the 101 or the 201... the extra 16gb doesn't matter much because you can put a 32gb microSD in it anyway.

@rybass309: Agreed. I bought this tablet back in January for $450 and it was worth every penny. A great tablet, great screen, updated to ICS and overall very fast and functional. That is also a great deal on the keyboard dock.

However, the TF201 (Transformer Prime) did have wifi and GPS issues. There was a "quiet" recall of it and Best Buy will honor it. If you've purchased the Prime from Best Buy and have the receipt or if they have you in the computer, they will give you store credit for what you paid for it, or exchange it for one comparable. Not a bad deal - Best Buy is generally great to their customers.

With that being said, I would buy the keyboard dock and find a good deal on the TF300 - preferably new so there's no recall, wifi, or gps issues.

Big difference with its successor is the metal body -- allows it to be thinner and more stiff. However affects is wifi and gps -- dongle available t assist. Im in for one because I want durable -- my last tablet got dropped 2X and always felt flimsy to me Viewsonic G tab
