lol they're going to wonder why the hell they got 5000 requests today

vote-for1vote-against

@iggz: lol this may be what they want. I was filling out the form and realized that I may start receiving a bunch of recruitment stuff in the mail later. I think I will pass.

vote-for36vote-against

Because every good Canadian needs a copy of the US Constitution!

vote-for4vote-against

@sundi712: I doubt you will end up with a bunch of junk mail, but I could be wrong. If you do submit the form, you will notice that an optional donation page pops up. No donation necessary to receive the Constitution, but I think that is the actual intention of offering it for free.

vote-for2vote-against

I bet it won't be a fancy parchment but the small booklet like members of congress carry.

vote-for7vote-against

This is from Hillsdale College - a private tell it like it is university that accepts no government money.

vote-for4vote-against

Yeah it plainly states it is a free booklet, whoever posted this on woot deals must have added the picture of the actual constitution.

vote-for10vote-against

This is really awesome. Thanks for the find. I cannot stress how important it is as American Citizens for us to fully understand our own Constitution. Maybe this will help alleviate the blatant misinformation about it.

vote-for6vote-against

Merely reading the Constitution does not make you a Constitutional scholar. Of course, it is the right place to start, but it is just a start.

vote-for5vote-against

I should send one to the oval office.

vote-for2vote-against

In for one as Magistrate my name IV. Can't wait for my school's mailroom to see that one.

vote-for2vote-against

>>I bet it won't be a fancy parchment but the small booklet like members of congress carry.

Considering the laws they've been passing the last few years, I'd have figured they'd go more for that print on the toilet paper in the senate bathrooms?

vote-for5vote-against

I went to look just out of curiosity and was greatly amused when I saw that they require you to chose a prefix for your name...and they provide a very extensive list of prefixes to chose from. Check it out for a grin.

vote-for1vote-against

I participated the last time they offered this promotion about a year ago. I now get mail from them about once a month, just so everyone knows.

vote-for4vote-against

I'm impressed, nearly a full page of comments and this hasn't turned into a full-on political fight!

vote-for-27vote-against

3 down votes??? Down voting the Constitution. Because we have freedom of speech that is cool if you want to down vote, and it is also cool if I tell you to GET THE F OUT OF MY COUNTRY.

vote-for3vote-against

Or we're now on some secret government list and signed away our spleens to supersoldiers.

vote-for19vote-against

@gthuffines: I served my country in the military and appreciate the down-votes because they warn of the follow-on solicitations. Problem?

vote-for3vote-against

It's being offered for free. What do people expect? I know we're looking for bargains, but do you really expect get something free without something in exchange?

vote-for2vote-against

Hillsdale is a private institution that caters towards conservative thinking. Basically the anti-Berkeley.

You'll hear Rush Limbaugh plug the college every so often on his radio show.

vote-for17vote-against

@gthuffines: Not trying to start with you but honestly if you do believe in free speech and the values in the Constitution, you shouldn't be telling everyone you disagree with to get the "F" out of "YOUR" country. That's pretty much the exact opposite of what America stands for even if it is your right to say that. Like I said not trying to start a fight, just something to think about.

vote-for4vote-against

Why wouldn't I just print it from the Internet?

vote-for1vote-against

@cloistered: And that's why I gave them my junk email email address. I get enough trash in the mail as is anyway. Which is why I am glad the garbage can is right next to the mail box.

vote-for6vote-against

Isn't Hillsdale where Marty and Jennifer McFly live in 2015?

vote-for3vote-against

@fallenanjel: because paper and ink/toner costs money

vote-for2vote-against

There's an awfully long list of countries in their form for only sending these to US and Canada. I guess that's because there's no mention of that on the page, except where they only want zip codes for those two countries.

Also, phone number and email are not required fields. If they want to spend money to send junk mail, so be it, but I won't be seeing more spam for this.

vote-for-5vote-against

FYI - Just thought you all would like to know that after you fill out the form and submit it for the free Constitution, they present you with a form for a donation to the college.

vote-for2vote-against

"lol they're going to wonder why the hell they got 5000 requests today"

LMAO - Hillsdale College only has 1500 students! :)

vote-for-2vote-against

@cloistered: yea, Hillsdale College is a fright-wing college, for whom Ginny Thomas (see: 'wife of Supreme Court Justice') worked, for several years. I seem to remember it was staff recruiting or somesuch.
I used to summer up there in lake country, friend had a cabin. The interface between townies and the snoots was hilarious. But the Hillsdale girls put out. ;^)

vote-for3vote-against

I know a TON of people who should get this.

vote-for3vote-against

@pensacolafreedomblue: You are not required to donate in order to get your copy of the US Constitution.

vote-for-2vote-against

well you didn't tell us there is a donation involved!!

vote-for3vote-against

Here is a PDF version to throw on that HP touchpad we all probably won't be receiving...

http://constitutioncenter.org/633876696043236250.pdf

vote-for1vote-against

@tcayer: every man could benefit from reading the US Constitution

vote-for2vote-against

FYI hillsadale is one of only a few colleges in the country that refuses all government aid. the federal government attached strings regarding hiring employees, student race quotas, and curriculum, so they halted all government aid. students rely entirely on private donations for their financial aid.

vote-for2vote-against

in case you don't want to wait for it to be shipped:
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_States_of_America

there is also lots of related material.

vote-for2vote-against

Howdy folks. I deleted some of the political "banter" that wasn't related to the deal.

Please feel free to move that discussion over to the Ask the Community side of the things.

Thanks!

vote-for0vote-against

@somnambulator: Agreed. But do you think women might not understand it or something?

vote-for1vote-against

@mikeknight01: lol somnambulator sure did slip up on that one. I am glad this isn't some official government forum. This may have started a huge argument about Women's rights.

vote-for4vote-against

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DONATE TO RECEIVE YOUR FREE COPY! Notice that the top of the second page is a confirmation of your order and the section below only is for those who choose to donate. It is pretty clear that no one actually reads anything anymore, they just make assumptions - which is why we're in the whole mess of what is Constitutional and what isn't in the first place!! Irony anyone??

vote-for1vote-against

@hockeyham: "Hillsdale is a private institution that caters towards conservative thinking. Basically the anti-Berkeley. "

Yet Berkeley is the school which actually R&Ds many weapon systems for our National Defense, was crucial in the development of the net and the web, and is where the author of the Patriot Act went to work after he was done with the Bush administration.

The "we are conservative and don't take money from the government" thing looks nice on paper, but it doesn't actually get anything done.

vote-for1vote-against

OK, looking through old deals for something, I found this one. I have been wondering why I was suddenly added to their mailing list. But I never got the thing I signed up for. Did anyone? Is anyone subscribed to this or is my comment doomed to never be seen by anyone?
