New page, strictly for use with woot.deals
Only one deal listed on the site at a time and checkout is automatically through the GPal Credit Card checkout system (just like paypals checkout) To keep it all completely secure.

sort of a knife nut. Would love the kershaw/shun knives on woot occasionally, but out of my price range right now... in for 2

vote-for2vote-against

What are the shipping costs? Are they "per box" or flat rate? And are these boxes guaranteed 50-state legal, or should Massholes and other Nanny-State dwellers just move along? Also, people don't tend to like doing business with websites that require their full life's history before they are even given a total for what's in their shopping cart...

vote-for3vote-against

I like the $5...I do not like that shipping is an additional $10. Was in for 1 but not after I saw the shipping. Too much to justify it.

vote-for1vote-against

I was all set to buy a few boxes... but having to pass off all the same information I just gave to BKIndustries (email address, address, etc, etc) to yet another merchant processor (Gunpal) killed the deal for me. I don't wish to have a Gunpal account. I've enough people with access to my financial information already, thanks.

vote-for1vote-against

The shipping price for one box is 10.71, but for 5 boxes it is only 16. Even if I would order 5 boxes, they say your chances of getting a name brand knife are only 1 in 8, and my total right now is at 41.71. I can buy the replacement kershaw I want for that price. I would be in for 8 if it was free shipping though. Can you do something about that BKindustries?

vote-for2vote-against

What the heck. I pulled 2, shipping was $11.51. I took it for the excitement, though the site looks a little thrown together, and am I the only one who never heard of GunPal before?

vote-for3vote-against

I dunno. This site looks pretty scam-tastic. The woot box is the ONLY thing that they sell. Literally the only thing. Gunpal seems to be legit, if it's the real gunpal that they're using. I'm not investigating further because I don't want to give them any of my info...

vote-for2vote-against

Nice! Went in with a guy at work - shipping for 2 was $12. Fingers crossed for that gerber multitool!

vote-for2vote-against

@kanedag1: Same here. Sketched out by the checkout process. Screw it.

vote-for1vote-against

Was gonna do it but my only issue is it doesn't even look like it's from BKIndustries. Not even a link on their website that I could find. Not to mention the offcial site is a .net and this "deal" is .org. Not worth the risk for me.

vote-for3vote-against

I've been watching BK Industries since the xbow deal. I am usually pretty reluctant to start shopping online with new companies, but I figured I would give it a shot this time. The Gunpal payment system is forgivable, since Paypal has certain weapon restrictions. Shipping was a bit high for one, but I went in for 4 to subsidize the cost a bit. I have a family full of gun and knife nuts, so I am hoping for a really good experience here. BKI's prices are fair enough so far.

I was a bit concerned to see some Zen Cart template text on checkout. After being redirected back to BKI's site from Gunpal, I am greeted with "Checkout Success Sample Text ..." Here's hoping I made the right call.

BK said above they threw this together just for this woot link, it isn't a deal they are offering to the public hence the q&d webpage. Payment was secure enough.

Went in for 1, shipping is high sure and made me really think about it, but 4 cheap knifes still cost more than 15 at my local army navy so what the hell.

Would have gone in for 2 but what would I do with that many knives...

vote-for3vote-against

@soccerfool72: Did you see who posted the deal? Looks like he used a domain that he had reserved as a special deals site for us.

@BKIndustries - your final thank you for your order screen still has the default text in it - may I suggest that you customize that? - would be a good place to cross-promote your other sites.

vote-for3vote-against

@BKIndustries thanks for the great offer. I'm in for one, father's day is coming up and my dad loves a good knife... paid 8.83 for shipping so I thought it was a good deal .

vote-for1vote-against

Hmmm. When I tried to force-secure the website, it came back claiming that the certificate was invalid and the server was identifying itself as *.supercp.com.

Since the force-secure on the wholesalemilitary.net website's SSL error didn't look at all like this website, it worries me. I'd love to buy a mystery box, but until I see some verification from BKIndustries, I don't think I can pull the trigger.

vote-for2vote-against

@nicktol: From what I have heard, Gunpal is actually very good.

vote-for1vote-against

In for 3, shipping to Chicago was 12ish for 2 or 3, so I went for 3. I hope they arent all Chinese key-chain knifes.

vote-for1vote-against

I'm interested. I'm moving to a less structured living environment (ie, into a van) and was thinking I could use a good EDC. This should be fun just for the surprise, and I like knives even if they aren't great. I will not respect and use them like a real knife, but they are still fun to have around.

So whats the consensus. Is this a safe site?

vote-for1vote-against

$20 shipping...i would have been in for alot more if shipping was cheaper

vote-for1vote-against

Er... They both say they are run by BK industries, (.net vs. .org) but they are run by different cart systems. That has me a tad bit worried, if you were just throwing a site together why would you use a different cart system? Anyway emailed BKi to ask them about it.

vote-for2vote-against

You dont have to create an account on GunPal for this purchase. I would not have bought if it was like setting up a second PayPal. GunPal is just the middleman processing your CC. So like I said, no account needed to pay via GunPal.

vote-for1vote-against

Would have been in for 3 but the shipping to my area costs more than the 3 boxes themselves no thanks.

vote-for1vote-against

I'd be in for 3 if someone could confirm the site is secure.

vote-for1vote-against

Wow.. my order is number 141... apparently they havent sold a lot of knives through this site. Must have been build like yesterday!

vote-for1vote-against

Haha....i was order number 5...i think this was setup just for us

vote-for1vote-against

If only created for this deal it will take a little while to permeate the deal sites... shipping is a hard one to swallow... There are a couple of name brand knives I am after, but for the odds of getting one, especially being that name brand companies often rebrand crap knives (got a S&W rebrand) I'm going to pass. Can get Gerber multi-tools for under $20 if you look in the right places btw.

vote-for1vote-against

Eh, I'll bite, in for 3. If it backfires I'm out a round at the bar.

editOrder #158, 3 boxes, shipping was $11.44 to California, not horrible*

vote-for3vote-against

Alright I'm awake now so I can answer all the questions.

Like we stated somewhere else, this site was simply a quick throw together site strictly for us to do these woot specific deals. We wanted to keep it limited to wooters (and those they refer) so we didn't want to put it on any of the other sites.

We switched the shopping cart platform because this one (ZenCart) integrates directly with the CC processor GunPal were as our main carts we use on the others do not. By integrating directly with GunPal the payment system actually redirects you to GunPal so that way your information is completely secure and we don't need to use SSL on the site.

However we also hosted this site on a new Hosting company (A2 Hosting instead of GoDaddy) simply because everyone has always complained about the speed of the other sites, we are actually going to switch all the sites over eventually.

There is an SSL for the site but it is created by the new host so it is registered through them not the site.

vote-for3vote-against

With this deal having at least 6 knives in the box we had to be sure that the shipping was going to be covered so that we didn't lose too much money with the deal.

Thats why this deal does not have flat rate shipping, we guessed an average box weight of roughly 2lbs and the shipping is based on that.

We purchased enough brand name knives to literally make us lose money on every box sold, so we made the shipping automatically figure the price based on weight to be sure we didn't also lose money on the shipping.

Keep giving your feedback though, because we are going to try to do 1 mystery box each weekend, we'll keep working on the site to make it more favorable, but it will still only ever have the 1 item on it.

vote-for2vote-against

With your assurance, I'm in for 4. I really want a good EDC, and I'll split the cheap knives with my pals for tasks that require something expendable.

vote-for2vote-against

Agreed, thanks for the feedback, in for three.

vote-for1vote-against

Again while that may be true... The whois, if I am reading it correctly, is either incorrect or we have a problem here...

Where as the .net website has BKIndustries@BKIndustries.net
and you can't view their WHOIS page.

shrugs I am overly cautious person.

Oh and I know this might be a special deal, but every other website run is 5.95 flat rate shipping.

vote-for1vote-against

Well I'm in for 2, order 175, that's 12 knives for 20 bucks, you can't beat that anywhere I don't think and their response on here is enough to make me feel better about it.

vote-for1vote-against

In for three total $29.00 but whats up with there website or lack thereof

vote-for3vote-against

@kmtfk6: Alright I will explain it all:

(Since we purchased this domain (and most if not all the others) at the same time, we didn't actually have the domains email address at the time of purchase (since you most own the domain first) so we registered it with the above one, you can email us on that one and we answer also)

Where as the .net website has BKIndustries@BKIndustries.net
and you can't view their WHOIS page.

vote-for3vote-against

Thanks for the assurance and confirmation BKIndustries. In for two.

vote-for3vote-against

I just received an email in reply to my inquiry @ BKIndustries.net confirming all of this (basically a copy/paste of what has been posted here), so I can independently confirm the link between BKIndustries net/org

I think a few little details slipped between the cracks and that raised our suspicions. I'd say it's legit :)

vote-for2vote-against

@outergeorge: I went ahead and changed some of the ZenCart page details, I hadn't realized I left some with the default text in it, but its changed and I added what I said here to the front page to help people realize its the same company.

We will be putting in a new Mystery Box every Weekend (starting each friday) on this site, I will of course keep working on making the site prettier and more professional looking (as well as getting the correct SSL on the site) but for now its just gonna have to be this thrown together site.

vote-for2vote-against

Order 204 ! w00t w00t can't w8 for my question marks! :D

vote-for1vote-against

In for 3. I do like a mystery.

vote-for1vote-against

I made an order this website more than two weeks ago and still have not received it but the money was taken out instantly. I tried to reply to them but get no response.

vote-for1vote-against

I bought 3. As a frequent hiker, climber all around adventurer it's worth it to me. Plus I like throwing them at stuff

vote-for1vote-against

In for 5. Total was 41 bucks. I want the Ka-Bar 9/11. Dont really care for the graphic on it but I love the knife itself. My fiance is going to pissed when she sees all of these knives but I cant care about that. Lets look at it this way, John Locke probably had someone telling him that having a ton of knives was stupid but when that plane crashed on the island I dont know if it was as stupid as originally billed. Boosh!

vote-for2vote-against

@targetingaorta: We reply to all emails almost immediantly, if we haven't responded to you there must have been a technical error in us either receiving your email or us sending one out. Please send us an email at BKIndustries@BKIndustries.net and I assure you we will respond promptly as we always try to.

Also remember people that with most companies Mystery Boxes take some time to ship out (as the site says) so be patient, not everyone will get there order within a few days (like some lucky people with the military mystery box (which by the way still has about 20 left)

vote-for0vote-against

In for 2. Shipping was not too bad, $16 for the two boxes. A little less if I wanted to take a chance with the USPS but I would rather trust UPS.

vote-for1vote-against

I went for one. Got email in seconds from BKIndustries.net

I'm comfy :)

vote-for1vote-against

in for one. got order number 301
