Refills aren't all that cheep. It will cost you about $8 per bowl per month. Not horrible, but do you really want to spend $300 a year to automatically wash your toilet?
@jeffrjohn: I would rather pay $300 a year to automatically clean my toilet than to clean the toilet myself for free...
@jeffrjohn: My estimate was for 3 toilets in the house, forgot to add that.
It's worse than that... you can't find the refills anymore.
@fgarriel: Just buy these and refill the bottle that come with it. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TBO5DQ/ref=asc_df_B002TBO5DQ1650095?smid=A31BX1XTMX60KP&tag=pgmp-663-95-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395129&creativeASIN=B002TBO5DQ
And when the bottle finally breaks? I've seen this movie before; I'm sticking with a brush and some Comet.
* still, not a bad idea if someone decided they wanted to buy this anyway
A 2-for-1 toilet bowl cleaning deal? This is great for all of those two-fisted janitors!
Do these actually work? I'll do anything to stop my wife from complaining about cleaning the toilet bowl!
these work great and yes you can refill them with the shower cleaner and they will do the job. you can even replace the caps so you dot have to worry about them breaking. btw...target has the shower double packs for sale at 6.99. just a few cents more expensive per bottle than the amazon 6 pack. I feel like my bathroom is always clean because of this thing. love it!!
@djsidk: Which amazon 6 pack?
@fgarriel: WRONG!
YOu can get the refills at many websites, and brick-&-mortar stores such as WalWart! See:

Bought three pair.
@lazarus2: Pretty sure product has been discontinued so its just a matter of time before they are impossible to get....
For those who say this product is discontinued and it is difficult to find the refills... this is correct. I took advantage of this woot when it came up previously. I absolutely LOVE this product. The bowl stays clean. Sure, it's still a good idea to scrub the toilet on a regular basis, but this really keeps the bowl shiny between regular cleanings.
Those drop-in bleach tabs (that you put into the tank) can damage the rubber parts in the toilet. Not good. Those other kinds of dissolving tabs never seem to dissolve all the way, leaving this mess in the tank that's not fun to clean out. Those stick-on gel thingies work well, but only clean a streak immediately below where the gel sticks. Virtually useless.
I have been using this product for about a month and it works like a charm. You are supposed to hang it on the tank (with the included hanger), but I just have mine sitting on the ground beside the tank.
I bought more of these to get some replacement containers, just in case.
@jeffrjohn: I bought some of the shower cleaner refills. Should be refilling my toilet cleaner soon. Does the cap screw off easily, or is it some sort of proprietary thing that tries to stay locked on?
Picked up a pair of these; yes, at $96/yr (at the full $8/bottle cost, not counting batteries) it's more than worth it to me to keep one toilet clean without scrubbing it myself, if these do work out as-advertised. If not, anyone know if the solution uses ammonia or bleach?
Looks like the shower refills go between $3 and $5 a pop though, bought in 6-packs.
Gotta copy paste guys...sorry. Can't creat a link with iPad. Stupid apple. :p. For the amazon 6 pack of shower refills. So, it's not easy to take the tops off of these things because there is a lock that goes against the screw top. But it is doable.
I caved. The 6-pack on Amazon was enough to convince me. If I get 1 year of use out of 'em, it's worth it for me.
Why are you buying shower refills for toilet cleaner?
@grblack: Because you can't find refills for the actual toilet product and I'm just betting that maybe the formula is probably not that different so I'm not blaming them, I'm half tempted to do the same after investing what I did in these things. I did send a nice little semi-nasty gram to J&J asking them why they think we should ignore the fact that they just changed their design on their product and went to a foot pedal with a different refill and what we morons with the old designs but big mouths are suppose to do with the old ones...fill with other companies product or what?? I'm hoping for at least a handful of coupons for new stuff and in the mean time, I think I will try the shower refills or dumping some clorox in the old bottles. As long as there is something in there squirting out cleaning instead of me sticking my body parts in there to do it, it's worth it. That's why.
